Kiss Lock Frame Handbags

Handbags with the kiss lock closure have a vintage vibe to it. When I first saw Marc Jacobs’ Stam bag last year, I immediately thought “granny looking” at the same time noting the similarity to the iconic Chanel quilted bags but didn’t think further about it. I must have seen it in my youth from my mom or an aunt and I wasn’t prepared to fully embrace the resurgence of, in my eyes, an antiquated style. Of course, it is now a runaway hit.

Since then, I’ve warmed up to the look and now I’m pining for the Celine Clandestine bag in pale pink. I know I have a thing for pink but this shade is so subdued and it’s a refreshing respite from this season’s white or primary colored handbags or even from the usual zipper or push locks. It also comes in white, black and tan.

These are other variations of the Clandestine which come in a more manageable, smaller size.

For a modern take on the kiss-lock frame style, Miu Miu replaces the metal hardware snap closure with wood.
