Back to School

June 30th, 2006 Posted in Fashion, Trends

Jumpers are set to make a major comeback this fall. They can be worn layered with tight fitting leotards (yes, they are coming back too), fitted tops, blouses with peter pan collars or puff sleeves, or anything you’d like to wear it with really. You can even take a shift dress and layer it with a turtleneck underneath. If you look closely at these runway photos, full or footless tights and ankle boots will be de rigeur for fall as well.

Unlike other fall trends, you can get a jumpstart on this look and wear it right now. Wearing a jumper dress this summer means lighter layers or none at all and definitely sans tights.

Anthropologie is already stocked with jumpers.

It gives such a youthful vibe, no?

the word “jumper” scares me. I think we, as fashion specialists, should present the style of layering and never think of a dress as a jumper again.

[...] Update: Jeans was nice enough and told me about this: I had seen it before and had even featured it here before it but found that a) it’s not poofy enough, b) it doesn’t have the large button detail by the straps and c) it looks a bit wrinkled. So I promptly forgot about it. [...]
