It’s the first day of Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale and it’s already in full swing. I arrived in the store a few minutes past noon. I thought to go look at shoes first but then decided to proceed to Savvy for my priority: these True Religion “Billy” straight leg jeans in black. I wasn’t too sure about them being that I had decided to concentrate on jeans with unadorned back pockets like J Brand plus I just don’t need more pairs of jeans. But with the huge discount, who could resist?
Apparently I wasn’t the only one who couldn’t resist. The rack only had two sizes: 27 and 31. I’m a size 26 but with my little tummy, 27 is fine too. So I stroll around the floor, eyeing things before going to the dressing room. When I get there, the S.A. opens a room for me and clears out the room while I wait. I notice another pair of True Religions in there and I ask for it. She hands it to me but it’s a size 28. All this while, the SA is walking out of the room with a bunch of clothes. I asked for another pair that I spot in the bunch that she’s carrying but another girl zoomed by and quickly asked for it. It was a size 26. Oh my god. I can’t believe how that just slipped past me.
The girl was giddy with joy that she found it. She squealed and reported her good fortune to her friends. Normally, I would have punched her in the face but it didn’t matter to me. I was very complacent about it. The SA was very helpful and offered to look for another pair. She even mentioned that the girl who got the 26s didn’t buy it yet so she would keep an eye on it for me. But two minutes later, happy girl bought it. I decided to get the 27s and pre-order another pair in 26 which is due to arrive on Tuesday. The head S.A. said that they are expecting a huge shipment from the manufacturer so not to worry. As I was leaving the fitting room, there were a lot of women toting the same pairs of True Religions. I even offered a size 28 back to one of them but she wanted a 27, which I suddenly hung on to.
Haha. It’s funny what a buying frenzy can do to influence your purchase. At first, I didn’t care if I got it. Then I got two pairs, sizes 26 and 27. And then for good measure, I ordered another pair online in case the pre-order falls through.
I decided not to scour the store anymore and just retreated to my air conditioned cubicle at work to let my fingers do the shopping. I tried on a few pairs of shoes at the store only to decide on size. Then I did my shopping online. It’s only a $5 flat shipping regardless of how much you order. That’s cheaper than the gas you would have spent to get to the store!
So ladies, do yourselves a favor. If you know your size already, just shop online!
