Trend Alert: Dark Hued Nail Polish
Black is back for fall and winter and, apparently, the trend extends to nail color as well. Chanel’s limited-edition Le Vernis Nail Colour in Black Satin is reportedly sold out. Like its name suggests, it’s black with a silvery shimmer. You can still get it on eBay for twice the price or more. Other similar shades are MAC Nightfall, Creative Nail Design Voodoo, OPI Black Onyx, and Essie Licorice.
If you think black is too goth looking, you can go for other deep dark shades with brown or red hues. Chanel’s highly popular Vamp comes to mind. It is a sexy black red with purplish undertones that was the rage back in 1994. Take note that the original Vamp is now called Rouge Noir. Other similar shades are Essie Wicked #249, E.L.F. Rachel’s Brick House, Creative Nail Design Fedora, Maybelline Wet Shine Succuent, Revlon Vixen, MAC Vintage Vamp, OPI Black Magic Mountain, OPI Mrs. O’Leary’s BBQ, and Isa Dora Midnight Red.

Keep in mind that dark nail polish is more obvious when chipped so base and top coats are essential to keep the color longer. When wearing this color, keep your nails trimmed and short like super chic Gwen Stefani does.

No long talons like Victoria Beckham, please, or you run the risk of looking tacky. I’ll have to grudgingly admit that she has lovely fingers though. Or is it the way she’s holding them up?

Have fun with this trend! If all else fails, you can always wipe it off with nail polish remover.

SD: I have been a dark polish fanatic for a loooong time now, so it’s great to see my lovelies being appreciated, hehe.
Now I must do a post on my all-time fave shades.
