Goyard Increasing Prices
I have a bit of buyer’s remorse buying that Tokidoki bag. It’s too juvenile for me!
Anyhow, I heard of Goyard’s impending price hike this morning. Effective November, prices go up 9-12%. I’ve been on the fence about Goyard but this just might convince me to finally get one. With Barney’s Purple card starting tomorrow ($25 for every $250 purchase), I just might have to spring for a St. Louis

or a Fidji Hobo for my travel bag.

Or should it the one I’ve always wanted, a Croisière?

Not for travel but for everday use. I was going to wait for a Louis Vuitton Speedy in Damier Azur when it debuts in November but I guess I like the Croisierie better. And for some reason, I’d like a red one.
Ugh, I don’t want to use my credit card! Someone convince me NOT to buy a Goyard!

I think you may just have to get it. Goyard is growing on me too and all the magazine editors carry it themselves. Keep us posted if you do or not. =)

I’d like to convince you! But I think The Bag Snob could do it better.
“Goyard is a hundred and fifty year old manufacturer of trunks and luggage, why they ventured into handbags is beyond our comprehension. The canvas/cotton/linen material used to make the bags are similar to that of Louis Vuitton, and although it was created a year before Louis Vuiton, it never reached the heights of the House of Vuitton. This self-acclaimed bag of choice for European royalty does nothing for the Bag Snob. We are actually shocked that this atrocious “Mustique” bag by Goyard is $1775. It’s a bizarre combination of vinyl and leather all strung up with a drawstring and at 7 inches wide it is too small to carry all our stuff so it is not very functional. The signature print is also hideous and lacks any kind of design or style.
So to answer your question, we think Goyard bags are ugly and useless. Take the money and invest it in a well made leather bag from Bottega or Chanel.”

where can one buy goyard in the US, or at least see the prices? that website is so gorgeous yet so ominous… when sites don’t include prices, it’s usually because they’d give you a heart attack if you saw them.

Hi Laini, Goyard has stores in New York and San Francisco. It is also available at Barneys New York in stores, as well as online (I believe).

Hi Shopdiary, I’d like to know if you did get a goyard bag?
I’m thinking about getting a Fidji Hobo in red or black. I’d like to know which one you picked and how you like it.
Thank you!

Hi shopdiary, i haven’t got it either. but i’ve asked my friend to buy one for me when she travels to Paris for business in Feb. (ha!) it’s a long wait, i know, but at least the price is almost $200 cheaper than getting it in the states. Plus I have to pay 9% NYC tax… I think i’ll be saving a lot if she could bring me one…

[...] the time I knew what style and color I wanted for sure, the price increase in November 2006 had taken effect. So I decided to to take advantage of Barney’s Purple Card [...]

Their bags are hideous pieces of vinyl for those only interested in advertising the fact they shelled out much too much money for a piece of ugly junk. A true snob would not want to see her bag coming and going on the arms of every other woman on the streets of New York City.

webstersf, it’s a good thing i don’t live in NYC because in LA, i hardly see anyone toting a goyard.
