J. Crew Cynthia Peasant Blouse, Sold Out

How crazy is this? I just saw the Cynthia peasant blouse on the pages of Instyle Magazine’s April issue this morning. And since I’m on the prowl for yellow clothing, I made a mental note to check this saffron top today. Imagine my dismay when I checked jcrew.com this afternoon and found out that it’s already sold out and worse, that it’s selling on eBay. The good news is that they are not going for outrageous prices. There’s still hope! I’ve already put one on my watchlist (crosses fingers). But I want to touch and feel the goods before buying first, dammit! Life is so unfair. Maybe Forever 21 will come to rescue? Not!
I just called the JCrew store nearby. They still have white and khaki available but not the saffron, black or blue. The style came out only three weeks ago. Sigh!
Update: I found it!

That’s a cute top! Good luck tracking it down. The color’s great.

I honestly think it might be cheaper (and more fun!) to fly to Mexico and get one from there. There are tons of shops that sell them, and a few embroidery places that customize. When in doubt, do the original!

The craziest thing is I ordered this Cynthia blouse the day it appeared on the website. They called me 10 days after my order to tell me it was sold out! Urgh! And I saw one in the shop and thought I had ordered one so why buy it now and return the web ordered one that would be stupid. Apparently not!

[...] Look what I found at the J.Crew store that I called last week and that said they sold out of the saffron Cynthia: A saffron Cynthia hanging on the rack by its lonesome. And in my size! Yummi Sushi must be laughing at me right now because two months from now, Forever21 will have the same exact color and style and I’ll be kicking myself because it will be a fifth cheaper than this one. Yes, for the quality I say it’s overpriced. But I really like it and it’s better than paying more on eBay. So of course, I got it. [...]

That happened to me, too! I called J. Crew the day I got the catalog and they were already sold out! I was really annoyed.

It is adorable, but I tried it on in the store a few weeks ago, and it’s quite unflattering. There is no shape to it, and a friend of mine was with me and agreed: too tent-y. Unless you have a body like the model in the picture, I’d avoid it.

Too funny, I found this top in navy at Forever 21 several weeks ago and immediately thought it was beautiful and looked expensive, tried it on and it looked great (you’re right, though, I am a small like the model, might not work on larger chests maybe). Had no idea it was a j.crew knockoff. Wore it today and my friend thought it was the ‘Cynthia’ and told me about it being sold out, etc. So I just found this blog looking for a pic of the original for fun. F21 did an amazing job with it- guess they did come to the rescue!Thought it was a lucky find- guess I didn’t know just how until today! Good luck gals!
