Gap Design Edition Shirts Are Not Sold Out
Look what I got in the mail yesterday:

It’s the Rodarte trapeze top from Gap’s Design Editions. The Rodarte designs are my favorites from this line and I absolutely adored the handmade (and expensive!) dresses from their designer line which I saw up close at Barney’s recently. So I went to a Gap store last week to check out the line. While they didn’t have my size in stock, they do take in customer requests. You fill out a customer request form and when the item comes in, they notify you. It took only four days to fulfill my request. And they shipped this top for free.
I’m not sure if I’ll keep it though. The white cotton poplin reminds me of my school uniform blouse from many years ago. And the lower portion juts out awkwardly. It’s definitely something that needs to be tucked in, as worn by Katie Holmes below. Pluses are the armholes aren’t as large as they appear to be and I do like the pleating by the neckline. Just size down as it fits loose. I think I’ll wait until I get the bow top to compare.
So I guess it’s fair to say that the collection is not sold out. You just have to wait if you want one. I got a size XS in case you’re wondering. At any rate it’s still a bit chilly to wear them now. And if you still want them when it gets warm, there’s always eBay but by then you would have moved on to the latest “it” thing. Right?

when i went to the gap in downtown toronto, they had everything, i bought 4 pieces, ended up returning 3, and keeping only the bow top from rodarte, i felt they looked a tad cheap, and the fit was all wrong….
