Sunscreens with MexorylTM SX

May 15th, 2007 Posted in Beauty

I’ve only begun using La Roche-Posay’s Anthelios SX Daily Moisturizer with SPF 15 recently after reading about Mexoryl, the most effective sunscreen ingredient in the market today that protects skin from UVA rays. As we all know, it’s those pesky UVA rays that causes premature aging, sun spots, wrinkles and melanoma. While Mexoryl has been widely used in Canada and Europe since 1993, it was just approved in the U.S. by the FDA last summer and only in lower SPFs. You’ll have to order overseas or online for higher levels of protection. So imagine my surprise when I discovered Lancome’s UV Expert 20, also with Mexoryl and with SPF20. Not that much of a difference in SPF but it’s good to know what options are out there. Incidentally, cosmetics giant L’Oreal carries the patent to Mexoryl so only its brands like La Roche-Posay, Ombrelle (not sold in the U.S.) and Lancome can use it.

With the sun’s powerful rays becoming more intense don’t leave home without sunscreen!
