Keeping Cool This Summer

July 15th, 2007 Posted in Fashion

I’ve been wearing loose cotton dresses paired with flat thong leather sandals since it got warm. I think I’ve only worn jeans once in the last three weeks. Comfort is key and this is just really effortless and practical dressing for me. Yes, even to work! The women in New York must feel the same way as seen here in photos by Bill Cunningham. As the NY Times notes, these dresses have “a looseness that allows for the circulation of air between cloth and body, nonconstricting comfort for hot, humid summer days.”

Agreed! I think I’ve only worn jeans a couple times, too, and I believe it was at night when it was cooler. I actually wore a dress just today to do some quick shopping – they’re just so much more easy and comfy…at least with this summer heat.

i’ve also been living in dresses and sandals — it’s been much too hot in LA to wear anything else! i can’t even stand to put on shorts, much less go near my jeans. it’s quick, easy, and oh-so-flattering!

Lucky you! Unfortunately here in Britain we haven’t been able to wear our lovely dresses due to the worst summer weather I’ve ever known.
