Beauty Review: Imju Fiberwig Mascara

I’ve heard a lot of rave reviews about Imju Fiberwig Mascara
so I thought I’d give it a try. Japan’s bestselling mascara is now available at Sephora
!
What it is formulated to do:
Engineered to create the perfect lashes with twice the amount of micro-fine interconnecting fibers, the instant drying formula creates a long lasting film coat around your natural lashes. Fiberwig imparts a perfect, smudge-proof maximum lash extension effect with a water-resistant formula that’s easy to remove with warm water, without risking damaging or losing your natural lashes. A jet-black fiber film coats the surface of each lash with long-lasting, clump-free, lash lengthening color that’s resistant to tears, sweat, and oil.
Here’s My Experience:
The mascara’s consistency runs thin, thicker than liquid eyeliner but thinner than most mascaras. The Sephora SA told me to apply Fiberwig from the tip of the wand. And as old habits die hard, I kept on applying it the way I always have. I wasn’t getting the results I expected and then I remembered what the SA said.
The secret is in the application. Instead of holding the brush crosswise along the width of your eye, you’ll need to use the tip of wand to coat the mascara on your lashes individually or by sections. Apply at least three coats, with the second and third (or more) coats applied more on the tips of your lashes, gently coaxing more of the mascara’s fibers outward thereby lengthening your lashes in the process. Don’t wait for the mascara to dry between coats. Keep applying. This takes a little getting used to but once you get the hang of it, you’ll be amazed at what can be achieved.
Tips: I like to curl my lashes before applying mascara. When necessary, I curl again once the mascara has dried about 30 minutes later. Be careful not to curl immediately after application as this can clump your lashes and, I’m not kidding, glue them together. Also, as Fiberwig only promises length and not volume, you may want to coat a volumizing mascara first then add Fiberwig only to the tips, coating at least three times. Someone also recommended using Fiberwig with Missha Mascara Base which I have yet to try.
Conclusion: Fiberwig delivers what it promises, which is long lashes, but I’m still on the fence about this one. This is not a “brush and go” mascara. You have to take some time to coax the fibers out and outward and experiment a bit. It’s been a week since I first tried it so I’ll keep using it and playing around with it a bit, most likely in conjunction with a volumizing mascara or a mascara base.
Have you tried Fiberwig? Your thoughts?
