Old Navy or Free People?
Following up on yesterday’s post about Old Navy’s version of Mike & Chris’ Bailey, shopping fashionista pointed out that Free People has an even better version of the babydoll hoodie including the distinct bubble puff. Free People’s Twilight Empire Jacket retails for $128 and comes in dark taupe, navy and black. They are only available online or thru catalog orders. (Update: They are also in select Macys stores.) Of course I already put in my order in for one in black, and then I also got black and forest green from Old Navy. Obviously, I can’t keep both black versions. And although Free People’s version is closer to the original, the bubble silhouette is on its way out.
So my question to you is, which version do you prefer: Old Navy or Free People?

I like the Old Navy version better. It is simpler and looks like it will be “in style” longer.

Actually, I saw the Free People one about three weeks ago in Macy’s and it looks great

They’re also at Bloomingdales. I bought the navy blue one from Bloomingdales about 2 weeks ago and I went back last weekend and they were all gone.
…oh, i just ordered the grey from Old Navy.

I prefer the Free People version. It is almost identical to the Mike and Chris version, even down to the detachable hood. I’ve read that the bubble hem is on its way out too, but I am not going to stop wearing something simply because the fashion powers at be dictate it. If you are tired of the style, then go for the Old Navy version. But IMO, the empire waist and pleating of the Old Navy sweatshirt gives it a bubble silhouette regardless of whether it has a bubble hem. I personally bought the Old Navy version in army green (not available online) and the Free People in black. As much as I love grey, I thought the Old Navy version in lighter colors looked cheap in person.

I like the Free People one. I get the Free People catalog in the mail, but I can never bring myself to pay so much. I just saw that hautelook.com is doing a sample sale for this line! I can’t wait. They have such great deals I’m sure I’ll find a few things I want and can actually afford.
