The Marc Jacobs Show: Why Everybody is Up Tonight (and will be yawning tomorrow morning)
The Marc Jacobs Spring 2008 runway show, scheduled tonight at 9PM, was two hours late. A runway show at 11PM? Well, it isn’t a Marc Jacobs show if it’s on time, right? And from the looks of it, all is forgiven by those who had to cool their heels waiting for the show. Cathy Horyn reports that it was an amazing show done in reverse with Marc taking a bow at first, then the finale parade, then each individual look. Fashion Inc. calls the overall aesthetic as “Grey Gardens meets Comme des Garcons” and includes an amateur video. The Fashion Informer just posted a few photos from the show and reports the debut of a cantilevered heel shoe called “Curly-Q Pump” and other shoes that were called “Too Small Court Pump” or “Too Small Sandal”. As usual, it will take time to digest this show and for opinions to form. But leave it to Marc to make things interesting. I already love those Curly-Q Pumps!

florian – yes they reminded me of united’s eamz shoe, which in turn was inspired by the iconic eames chair. other designers have created similar shoe designs like junko shimada and manolo blahnik.
