Sample Sale Alert: Mike & Chris, October 4-6, 2007

September 27th, 2007 Posted in Sample Sales

O.M.G.! Look what I found in my inbox tonight:

Yes, Mike & Chris is having a sample sale again next week and you bet that I’ll be there ready, willing and able… to shop! And this time I’ll be smarter about it! At their last sample sale, they had $10 and $25 racks that I completely ignored in my quest for the Bailey. This time, I won’t be a snob. I will stock up. (Hey, Christmas is just around the corner!) Plus, how can you resist their leather jackets?

OK, here are the details in case you can’t see the image above:

URGH! We just moved to Chicago a couple months ago and sure enough they have a sample sale. :( Would anyone be willing to ship to Chicago? I’d be more than happy to pay for shipping, packaging and an additional 5% of whatever the total amount of stuff is that would be shipped. Any takers? Please email me at fashiontherapist@gmail.com

      THANKS ladies!!!

    2. Mike & Chris Tie Front Metallic Jacket Says:

[...] Look what I found on page 15 of my Barneys Coop mailer: a Mike & Chris Tie Front Metallic Jacket that I’ve never seen before. Isn’t it gorgeous? The leather looks soft and supple. Metallics are in yet the sheen doesn’t look overly done. The tie front and slim fit give it a feminine touch. This is to die for! The jacket must be exclusive to Barneys as it isn’t even on the Mike & Chris website. It’s $922 so here’s hoping they’ll have it at the next sample sale. [...]

hi, does anyone have any tips on parking in the area? i’ve never been there on a weekday before so i’m not sure what to expect, with downtown traffic and all.. if anyone can provide some tips that would be great :) thanks!

    4. shopdiary Says:

hi puffy, there’s open parking next to (north) and behind (east) the anjac building. the last time i was there though, a movie production reserved both lots so i had to park down at olympic and broadway. basically, there’s lots of parking around. i went in the morning, which, i imagine must be easier trafficwise than going later.

    5. puffy Says:

      thanks shopdiary!

howdy, just wanted to give y’all a report on today’s sale. well…………i was VERY disappointed this time. i arrived at 9:10am and stood/sat behind 20 girls in line. a few showed up at 7:40am. door opened at 10am and of course, the mad rush to the leather. i grabbed a few and just ended up putting them back on the racks–the quality was horrible, pockets ripped, faded leather, etc…$500 is still a lot of money. the prices were soooooooo high this time–one small $10 box (no racks). hardly anything below $65. maybe tomorrow will be better. larger room. a couple light colored baileys for $100. i really wanted a vest but the price went up to $200-$300. ($50 last time). some purses by mila (?). tons of belts that went pretty quickly for $50. even the ryder was $50-$65 ($10 last time). so i walked away with one black belt and a liam ($75). same deal with cash- no tax. another cute sample sale tomorrow on the 12th floor for anyone going…..overall, d- :(

    7. nicole Says:

oh, parking: they are filming again. i was able to park in the lot next door but that was limited…i usually find a broken meter on the street…1hr parking and lots of meter maids driving around–be careful.

    8. layla Says:

I went to the Mike & Chris sample sale today and bought a few things that dont fit me. It was so crazy I figured that I’d buy things in my size and hope they fit. Sure enough, even though I bought all my things in one size, some fit and some dont.

      * Short sleeved cream leather hoodie
      * Antiqued leather arthur cropped leather vest (check out this link: http://www.stylehive.com/person/SecondCityStyle/cropped. )

If you’re interested, let me know and i can take pictures and send them to you. my email: laylabear@gmail.com

    9. layla Says:

      nicole,

tomorrow the M&C sample sale will be in a larger room? how’d you know? this is bad…i shouldnt go back ….haha…but im tempted

    10. nicole Says:

hi layla, no the room was larger than the last sale in may (?)…also, there were more leather items this time (two racks). girls brought their boyfriends and they were holding about 10 leather jackets each, if not more. almost got the arthur vest. i thought it was $200 but at checkout it was $300—no thank you. people were shocked that i didn’t want the leather but i think it is easy to get caught up in the madness and forget you can actually get it brand new for a few dollars more…;)

    11. shopdiary Says:

a quick report as i’m on my way out (again):

i went this morning. got there around 10:10AM and the racks were already empty. i heard that the doors opened at 10AM everybody grabbed whatever were on the racks. the good thing is that stock was replenished every so often. another good thing is they moved to a bigger space, near the windows. the last time i almost passed out because it was too hot! they had bottles of water for everybody. bad news: of course the leather jackets went quickly.

parking: there was a movie production that claimed the parking lot next to anjac building again. there’s lots of parking on broadway bet 9th and olympic $6 whole day.

Nicole – What’s the sale on the 12th Floor?

BTW, I went to the LaROK sale too. It was only 5 miles away. I didn’t like anything there but came away with a $20 top labeled “Lovestruck”. :-)

    12. nicole Says:

thanks for the prices. i could only find one wall with the list. where did you find the niko??
perfectly imperfect (high end organic knits) sample sale tomorrow, suite 1207, 11-5. sold at kitson, fred segal, etc. $5-$25. cute stuff and very nice designer. have you been to the joie store (next door to larok)?

    13. nicole Says:

here is the link to perfectly imperfect: http://WWW.PI-TEES.COM

    14. shopdiary Says:

nicole – thanks for the info re: perfectly imperfect. re: niko, the lady in front of me had it and when she started trimming down her stuff, i kept an eye on it. she had about 7 items and only took two. as soon as she declared she wasn’t taking the niko, i asked for it. and i was already being rung up at the register. i was surprised when the cashier took half off the price. i had really wanted a grayson but the niko is close enough.

    15. nicole Says:

sorry, i got all my names mixed up. the vest i had was the truman. if anyone wants a medium in ash, go here and get it for $215.60 (cheaper than the sample sale) – http://www.standardstyle.com/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=46069

    16. janine Says:

thanks everyone for all of the reports back from the sample sale. it is really a timesaver for me to decide whether or not i want to go! sounds like M&C has just gotten so popular that they can charge a lot more at these sales.

i have been to the joie store… it’s just a fenced off area inside their building. it was totally quiet and empty when i shopped, so i really took my time. they didn’t have much, but i did come back with a few items. wouldn’t recommend a trip out there just for that store, but worth stopping by if you’re in the neighborhood.

    17. kim Says:

This sale was insane!! And I mean insane in a bad way. Too many people and still pretty expensive. $400 for a leather vest?!? I just couldn’t let myself do it. However, I did end up buying an off-white Lincoln in a size Small, which is too big for me and a Cody vest for $20. If anybody is interested in avoiding the sale and wants to buy or swap the Lincoln for a size XS, please let me know!! My e-mail’s chanelsmypal@gmail.com

    18. layla Says:

I went to the Mike & Chris sample sale and I went crazy and bought too many leathers. I’m keeping some, but I’ve decided to sell the following items:

-Black Dylan leather hoodie vest (pics here: http://www.singer22.com/michdysldila.html) in a large

-Celadon (seafoam green) Hooded leather jacket in a large (zip up, pockets in front)

if you’re interested, email me: laylabear@gmail.com.

im also selling some other items. see the comments above!
