Forever 21 Does Mike & Chris Bailey… Again
October 7th, 2007 Posted in Fast Fashion, Splurge vs. Steal

Looks like Forever 21’s latest reincarnation of the Mike & Chris Bailey passed under the radar. My radar, at least. This version appears to be the closest replica to date of the original, down to the pleats, detachable hood and striped lining. It also looks similar to my black Free People hoodie. It’s not available on the Forever 21 website anymore and I have not seen them in person so I have no idea how much they are and what the quality is like. It’s on eBay though so click through if you want one.

Forever 21 also has a replica of the Clark leather hoodie for like $40, but of course, it’s fake leather.
Speaking of knock-offs, ASOS has some similar leather hoodies too.

i totally gave in and ordered this online. I ended up paying about 75 including shipping (eeek!!), which is probably like $50 more than it is in the store. I’ll let you know how the quality is. Does anyone know how much the original price is?

^if it would make you feel better, free people’s is $125 pre-tax + s/h and it appears to be the same.

i just got my forever 21 bailey in the mail and was pleasantly surprised. of course the quality was not as good as the Mike & chris but it still looked great and you can’t really tell. It’s just thinner than the original. I’m pretty happy with it!

oh, i’m envious! does yours come with the forever21 tag? if so, does it show the price?

There was a tag on it but the person cut off the section with the price. This is such a mystery! I’m having trouble finding a a way to wear it buttoned up without looking pregnant. any suggestions?

For you girls who can sew, Butterick makes an almost identical coat pattern.

A little altering and it’d be the same thing . I’m not sure how I’d go about adding the zip off hood but I imagine it wouldn’t be too difficult to mess around with.

Forever 21 has done it … again. Even the waist ties have almost identical stitching. The quality is not as good — and the lining has some haggard emo-esque pattern (like black stars on a white canvas), but seriously — this is ridiculous. From afar, you wouldn’t know the difference — hasn’t forever 21 had enough lawsuits?? Apparently not.
