Erin Fetherston for Target Not Moving In Stores (At Least, Not in This L.A. Suburb Store)
I dropped by Target last week and saw racks full of clothing from the Erin Fetherston line. At this point in time, I thought the racks would be almost bare. What was going on? Here are some theories:
1. The excitement over designer collaborations with mass market retailers has waned.
2. While some of the fabrics were sumptuous, the designs flatter only certain body types. The red babydoll dress’ empire seam hit the bust line at an odd spot on me and the white jacket could look like a potato sack on some.
3. Pricing is a bit high for Target price points. But hey, they’re on sale at 30% off now so perhaps these items will finally move.
4. The Target store that I visited hasn’t been infiltrated by the fashion types, despite it being located in an L.A. suburb.
The line will depart in a few weeks to make way for Jovovich-Hawk, which will debut in February probably to coincide with New York Fashion week. Next question: Where are the spoiler photos of the Jovovich-Hawk line? Somebody leak them online already!

When I saw the commercial for Erin Featherson, I was excited about the clothes but when I actually went to the store, the clothes seemed cheaply made. Alot of loose threads and the I’ve noticed that I’m always getting excited about these designer clothes for Target but every time I go I get disappointed. I think the clotes look better on t.v than in person.

I showed my g/f Erin’s line online, and she thought that she’d dig it. The first night that they were available, we went to our Target and she tried on several pieces, but none of them fit right on her. She still liked the designs.
I did notice imperfections like loose threads as well.

I bought the ivory coat, because the design was cute and the price was certainly right. But the rest of the collection was just kind of meh. Perhaps they are just too young for me, but I can usually only find one or two pieces out of each collection that I like, and then it’s a challenge to get one of those to actually fit well.

If you looked at the EF line, you will know why it didn’t sell: cheap, cheap, and ugly!! If you’re going to go mass market, how about coming up with designs that the masses might actual wear in real life?? My 18 and 20 year old daughter’s would not wear dresses that looked like how I dressed them circa 1990 Christmas with SAnta pics! And me? As fashion forward as I think I am, I would not be caught dead in that mess. I can’t wait for Jovovich/Hawk. They design for a more sophisticated lady.

By the way, the Patrick Robinson line rocked hard, I bought nearly every piece and wore the heck out of them. They even held up in the wash. Libertine rocked, as did some of the Temperely pieces, but they were also cheaply made. I was truly disappointed with the EF line because I was hoping for something really cute in time for the holidays.

In the words of my mother on the red baby doll top/dress (which I thought I might buy when I found it 50 percent off): “That’s great if you want to go ahead and buy maternity clothing for the future!”
(I did come across EF merchandise stocked in the maternity wear clearance at one Target.)
