Trend Watch: Dark Blue Nail Polish
We spotted nails painted in dark blue metallic shades last year as a cooler option to black nail polish, which reigned supreme in autumn 2006. And it looks like the trend isn’t about to die down even though L.A. Times reports that lighter blue hues will replace dark blue this spring. Chanel’s Blue Satin is new for spring and it’s being snapped up by the trendy set as I type this. I already got mine from Neiman Marcus. Don’t stress though if you miss out on this one as there are many options in various price ranges. Let’s see what they are now, shall we?

Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour in Satin Blue
The crème de la crème of nail polishes, Chanel Le Vernis is a long-lasting and chip-resistant nail colour. No wonder fans will gladly fork over $19 or more for a bottle. Get your hands on the limited edition Blue Satin now as this will soon be sold out. You wouldn’t want to pay an arm and a leg for one on eBay. But then again, you probably would!

OPI Yoga-ta Get This Blue! is part of OPI’s Spring/Summer 2008 collection, India. This vibrant and rich deep blue shade will be released on February 6, 2008 and will retail for $8.50.

Essie Aruba Blue $7
This gorgeous metallic royal blue has been around for awhile now compared to its indigo cousins. It’s a shimmery shade with a lot of depth.

Wet N’ Wild: Sapphire Blue
Don’t let the $0.99 price tag fool you. This nail polish is a fantastic budget buy that applies easily and dries quickly. The shade is a sapphire blue with a silver shimmer.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Dead Calm $18
Dead Calm is an opaque navy, a color as unexpected as a dark blue satin gown instead of a “Little Black Dress,” yet every bit as classic and appropriate. If you want a more shimmery shade, try Under The Stars.

Zoya Indigo $8
Update: How could I have missed Zoya Indigo when Annie of Blogdorf Goodman chose it as her number one pick of her Favorite Things 2007 less than a week ago? Annie describes it as “a true midnight blue with twinkling stars captured in a bottle”. Beautiful!

Ooh I will definitely be getting Chanel’s satin blue. I love it because it reminds me of the color I used to wear when I was a kid, for some reason there was a time where I wore only blue shades of nail polish. I also love it because from what I’ve seen, its a really dark blue where its almost black which works with the clothes I wear.

I’ve been wearing that wet n wild one for almost a year! I love it and people think it I had Chanel many months in advance. Bwahahaha. I love that colour and it’s keeping me from wanting the Chanel and spending 19 bucks.

Great roundup - I’ve actually got a bottle of Zoya Indigo I’m just waiting to break open! Maybe I’ll have to try the Wet n Wild, too.
