Manolo Blahnik Marimekko Shoes

Manolo Blahnik’s Spring/Summer 2008 collection includes shoes in the delightful Marimekko pattern Mini-Unikko. If you’re a bit hesitant to go all out on the floral trend this spring, wearing them on your feet will do just fine.

Apparently, Blahnik had decided to base his latest collection on the wonderful architectural lines he saw in Hagia Sophia, Turkey. He then came upon some Marimekko fabrics in a little shop in Bath, England. According to Blahnik, “the two just happened to fall perfectly into place — as bizarre as that combination may sound.”

Twenty8Twelve Now at Shopbop

Sienna Miller’s fashion label with sister Savannah, Twenty8Twelve, is now available at Shopbop. The Spring 2008 collection features a monochromatic palette of black, white and off white with ruffle trim details on some pieces. Not a very exciting collection what with the burst of color that we’re seeing everywhere for spring. Still, there are nice basics like the Royce High Waist Sailor Pant.

Prada F/W 2008 Handbags

It’s time to dig into your grandma’s closet. Prada has unveiled a collection made of heavy lace that reminds us of curtains, doilies, drapery or something worn several decades ago. The effect is beautiful however and the use of lace extends to handbags (thankfully, not to shoes!). The ruffled detailing on Prada’s F/W 08 shoes continued on to the bags. Beautiful!

Prada F/W 2008 Shoes

I haven’t had much time lately to pay attention to what went down the runways in London and Milan. But of course, with Prada, which just showed today, it was hard not to. As usual, I tend to zero in on the accessories more than the clothing. Prada’s shoes appear to have fin-like accents at the vamp and heels. Most of them look like artfully placed ruffles. I love it for the originality. They could have done without the nude elastic straps but then those are what probably make the shoes wearable.

Sneak Peak: Gryson for Target

Preview images of the Gryson for Target line are featured in the March 2008 issue of Harpers Bazaar and on Target.com. There are two woven styles shown: a pouch in black, white, green and blue jean ($19.99) and a bag with cutout handles in black, white and green ($44.99). The designs look really nice but the actual feel of polyurethane might not be. No official word yet on when the collection will be released but this will most likely occur when Loeffler Randall for Target departs in late March.

Update 2/26/08: Racked just posted more photos today. The line is scheduled for release on April 6 and will be in stores through June 21, 2008.

Christian Louboutin Spring 2008 Handbags

Christian Louboutin pays homage to his red soled stilleto roots for his handbag collection for Spring 2008. Along with a signature red satin lining, each handbag either has high heeled charms or a kiss lock closure. The bags themselves aren’t distinctive enough, but little details like these may make a die hard Louboutin fan consider these handbags to go with her red soled shoe collection.

Louboutin introduced handbags about two years ago, and has even collaborated with a local graffiti artist on some styles. Recently, however, he assembled a dedicated team of designers, merchandisers and production experts to build the business and respond to growing demand from customers, especially for daytime styles.

Part one of his fall 2008 collection includes a range of functional bags — some with built-in pocketbooks, others with intricate passementerie embroideries — along with jewel-like evening clutches and pouches with chain handles. A coin-purse-style clasp with two heel-to-heel stilettos is a signature feature on many styles.

The handbags are priced from $1195 - $1795 and are available for pre-order from Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman to ship no later than May 2nd.

Gossip Girl Fashion: Blair Waldorf’s Ankle Patent Boots

Spotted: Blair Waldorf’s patent boots from Gossip Girl’s last episode, The Thin Line Between Nate and Chuck. Blair’s quirky tri-color ankle patent boots are by Sam Edelman and the style is called Rita. The ankle boots are already sold out in navy blue but the color is still available in knee-high boots. If you prefer ankle boots, the bordeau is just as gorgeous. Or if you’re a bit daring, how about yellow?

OK. That was just an excuse to post about Gossip Girl. The real dish is that the show is set to resume airing on April 12th. Woohoo!
