My 3.1 Phillip Lim Tiered Panel Top

When you shop for clothes do you ever consider, before making the purchase, how you would have to care for that garment? I normally do but back in May, when I saw this 3.1 Phillip Lim tiered panel top (seen on Anja Rubik on the Spring 2008 runway) on sale at Barneys, I swooned. The t-shirt material made it casual and the exposed yellow zipper at the back made it interesting.
I had a Purple Card to burn and it was the last day to redeem it so I decided that this top would be it. It was practically free. I paid only $25 on top of the Purple Card’s value. I got a lot of compliments the first time I wore it. I was thrilled.
But then I made the mistake of throwing it in the laundry instead of having it dry cleaned as the care tag instructed. Big mistake. The edges had curled in and the gaps between each panel had widened. Frankly, I’m afraid that it’ll look like a floor mop despite my painstaking efforts ironing each panel. The only thing that’ll keep it from looking like a total mop head is the exposed yellow zipper. And for that, Phillip Lim is a genius …
