Lancôme Ôscillation Vibrating Powermascara

Lancôme recently released its much anticipated Ôscillation Vibrating Infinite Powermascara to the general public. I wasn’t able to snag a tube back in July when it went on sale for one day only so I was among the reported 21,000 on Lancome’s waitlist. When I got an email notification on Wednesday about its availability, I was very tempted to order online but I wanted it now! So I quickly hoofed it up to the nearest Sephora store, which didn’t have any in stock, then quickly went over to Nordstrom, which did have it in stock. In my continuing quest for amazing lashes, I had to have this!
The mascara brush is similar to Chanel’s Inimitable Waterproof and L’Oreal’s Carbon Black Telescopic mascaras – it’s long and thin with short plastic bristles. The wand is pre-loaded with a battery that powers the vibrating brush to provide 7,000 oscillations per minute and wraps every lash up to 360 degrees. Now the prospect of getting a vibrating brush right next to my eyes was a scary prospect but I can assure you now that the micro vibrations are very subtle, you’ll hardly notice.
I did a test run today to try out my skill in using the product. You need to press the button to activate the vibrating wand and hold it during application for a continuous micro vibration. Then place the brush at the root of the lash line and slowly comb through from root to tip. There’s no need to zip zag or use fast little strokes, which was my mistake the first time I tried it (old habits die hard). Apply 2-3 strokes for a natural look and more for a dramatic result. I was amazed with the defined lashes that quickly appeared before my eyes after just one coat. The mascara lengthened and slightly thickened my lashes. The controlled application ensured that each lash was precisely defined and the wet mascara formula (which takes a bit to dry) allows you to apply multiple coats without clumping. I love it! Other reviews that I read say that that you could use it to freshen up during the day without clumping, which is something I haven’t tried yet. My only concern is that tiny black flakes appeared by my lower lashes about two hours after my initial application (well, I took a nap!) so I’ll see how it holds up tomorrow at work. Wow, I’m a little leery of stuff moving near my eye, but I think I’ll be brave for pretty lashes. I’ll have to give this a try!
