The Morning After: Call Me, Vincent

I hope I’m not spoiling it for those who don’t own a Rebecca Minkoff bag yet but this is very amusing (to me, at least). Last month, when I got my first Rebecca Minkoff Morning After Mini I found a card in the inner pocket with a guy’s photo on one side and a handwritten note on the reverse that said “Call me, Vincent” with a phone number on it. I got the bag from Luna Boston and I thought that one of their employees must have slipped the card in there. So cheesy and lame, I thought. But then the card had rebeccaminkoff.com printed on the bottom of the card. Hmmm, do they want feedback about the bag? I was confused but didn’t think much of it. Later, I showed the card to my friend who is single and looking. I told her to call Vincent. She freaked out though and threw the card in the trash. We thought it was hilarious and desperate (of Vincent). By then, I had two more Morning After bags from Gilt Groupe. The same card with the same guy and note are in the other bags. Curious and wanting to get an explanation about Vincent, I go to The Purse Forum and find out that there’s a thread in the forum about it.
Rebecca Minkoff herself explains in an interview with Buss Buss:
BB: Want to share any little-known secrets about yourself or your collection that not many people know?
RM: There is a little card in each bag that has a cute boy’s picture on it and his number to call. I find cute pics and have them printed on cards and people actually do call! When customers call they hear a guy’s voice and he is French. Some people call and think they met the guy the night before. It’s kind of funny to hear some of the messages!
What a clever gimmick for a bag called “Morning After”. And oh, the stories that have come out of it. Some called the wrong number and got a confused guy at the other end of the line, others thought they got a used bag, one got a disapproving look from an SA at Bloomies, it got some husbands and boyfriends wondering, and one was even suspected of having an affair with Vincent!
Vincent sure has caused quite a stir. I wonder what stories others have to share. Do tell!

You’re really making want to get one of these bags…… Oh to answer your question I’m in television promotions and marketing. Rare find here in Chicago, but SO glad I do what I do! What do you do?
