Marc Jacobs Fall 2009 Beauty

February 16th, 2009 Posted in Beauty, Fashion Week

The eighties were back in a big way at the Marc Jacobs Fall 2009 runway show tonight. Tons of hairspray and gel helped create frizzed Mohawks, punk rock hairdos, twisted updos, teased Afros and towering beehives.

Strong eye makeup reminiscent of the decade ran from dark smoky eyes to wild, exaggerated cat eyes. “The smoky, strong eye is one of my favorite looks,” François Nars, creator of Nars cosmetics, said. “It’s Eighties inspired — [by] Yves Saint Laurent, Stephen Sprouse.”" “We’re doing quite an eclectic look,” he said. “Marc wanted to bring out the character and individuality of each girl. It’s like a New York night scene. There’s a strong edge to each of them — they’re fun, wild and extreme looks. It’s really combining many, many colors. It’s very Deborah Harry.” [via WWD]
