J.Crew August 2009 Catalog

There’s always something to covet from J.Crew and I look forward to receiving their catalogs every month. Being mindful of the environment, I’ve suspended delivery of paper catalogs but not for J.Crew! I love flipping through the pages and checking out what’s new. Thanks to Jenna Lyons, the brand’s creative director, we’re seeing more style infused with the preppy basics that the brand is known for. Sure the pieces aren’t entirely unique (I’ve seen shades of 3.1 Phillip Lim in their ruffled tees) but we’re getting good quality clothing without designer prices. As Los Angeles times noted, J.Crew is both aspirational and attainable. It’s a juxtaposition of hard and soft, casual and dressed up, masculine and feminine.
The John Steibeck inspired August 2009 catalog was shot in Monterey County, California and unveils a collection rich in color, texture and detail. My picks are after the jump. View the entire catalog here.

cool! but I think the Steinbeck theme should have been pushed further… and I’m so glad that Du Juan is in the catalog! Love that Asians are being represented within fashion more and more <3
