Love Quotes Scarves

June 16th, 2008 | 4 Comments | Posted in Accessories

I’ll be going on vacation in a few weeks so I thought of looking for a lightweight scarf to take with me. I usually bring a pashmina when I travel but, in this heatwave, all I could think of was something light and colorful.

I must be the last person on earth (OK, in L.A.) to discover the Love Quotes scarf. Celebs like Rachel Bilson, Hilary Duff, Cameron Diaz, Nicky Hilton, Lauren Conrad and the like have been spotted wearing these finely fringed Italian linen scarves. Each scarf is huge (37″ wide x 72.5″ long), comes in lots of vibrant colors and has a tag that contains a love quote from a famous person. Sounds a bit gimmicky, but I was touched to learn that 10% of Love Quotes’ net profits go to international children’s charities.

Singer 22 has 26 colors to choose from and I can’t decide which color to get. Help! I want them all! They’re also available at Pink Mascara and Shopbop.

I mistakenly thought the checked socks from this Vogue UK feature were from Prada. Upon checking the credits, I found out that they are by Celeste Stein and are available at MyTights.com. Ankle socks are $13.75 while knee highs are $19.49. Sweet!

My New Sunglasses: Chanel 5120

April 6th, 2008 | 6 Comments | Posted in Accessories

I’ve been so busy at work lately I decided to reward myself. For some strange reason, I decided that one of my treats would be a pair of Chanel sunglasses. I say strange because I tend to lose or ruin my sunglasses pretty quickly so I’m perfectly happy with wearing cheapo sunglasses from Forever 21.

And for someone who didn’t have any particular style in mind, I’d say I chose very quickly. I knew I wanted tortoise shell frames so I zeroed in on two styles. But the other style, whose shape I preferred, had dark green lenses. I tend to get headaches from too dark lenses so I ruled that one out and settled for the 5120. Despite their quirky round shape, I was surprised at how they looked good on me (if I may say so). Even the SA said so and I could tell she was sincere.

The 5120’s round retro style frames remind me of the now sold out half gradient 5018s from Chanel’s Spring 2007 runway. You’ve seen them on the likes of Nicole Richie and Mary Kate Olsen. And I was surprised, from seeing photos of the Olsen twins, that the 5120s have half gradient lenses as well but are more subtle than the 5018s. Check out the difference between the two styles in the photo of the Olsen twins below.

The 5120s are new for 2008 and also come in black/white (which are way cool but were not available), red/black, red/light blue, caramel/black. I love them!

Target has partnered with jewelry designer and CFDA nominee for accessory designer of the year Justin Giunta to launch a limited-edition accessories collection, Subversive for Target.

From the Target Press Release:
The Subversive for Target collection plays on the idea that more is more, and each piece is designed with a concept behind it, so it is both visual and thoughtful. This collection includes an eclectic mix of charm bracelets, delicate drop earrings and bold multi-color block necklaces. Key pieces include the jeweled locket fringe necklace, the tri-strand faux pearl necklace and the red butterfly brooch cuff bracelet. The exclusive Subversive for Target collection ranges in price from $14.99 to $59.99.

There are five collections: Bauhaus Beach House; Birds, Bees, Summer Memories; Boho Victorian; Cactus Cluster; and Visions of Saturn. A standout piece is the necklace from the Visions of Saturn collection (pictured above) which closely resembles the $1600 topaz planetary necklace from Subversive’s original designer line (pictured on the left). Another must have piece is the tri-strand cluster necklace that features multiple charms and contrasting bead shapes.

The Subversive for Target collection is now available online and in stores through July 20.

You’ve Got Y-Mail by Yves Saint Laurent

March 5th, 2008 | 6 Comments | Posted in Accessories, Handbags

How cool are these embossed leather and satin goods from Yves Saint Laurent? Giving a nod to the nostalgic days of snail mail, the Y-Mail collection features the brand’s first official headquarters in Paris embossed in founder Yves Saint Laurent’s personal manuscript. An imprint of a French postage stamp and a YSL logo complete the look. Available in black, gold, silver and red (exclusive to Asia), prices range from $180 for a mirror case to $1,840 for a medium-sized tote. The collection was first released in Asia in January and will be launched in the U.S. this month. Colette Paris will also exclusively carry this limited edition pewter clutch (only 10 pieces made) that opens like an envelope and has Colette’s return address of 213 rue Saint-Honoré on the flap.

Chanel’s Two Tone Legwear

March 4th, 2008 | 2 Comments | Posted in Accessories, Fashion Week

Chanel’s two tone legwear seen on the catwalk in Paris last week look pretty interesting. The nude color looks unassuming when seen from the front and the black half gives a slimming effect when seen from the side. I’m not too keen on the logo but then again, it’s what probably adds interest to what could have been ordinary nude hose.

I’m trying to jog my memory if I’ve seen logoed pantyhose before. I know I have, I just can’t remember when… Update: No, it’s not these ones from Louis Vuitton that I was thinking of.

American Apparel Tri-Tone Footless Socks

February 10th, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in Accessories, Shoes

I got these tri-tone footless socks from American Apparel to wear with gray/black Nine West Metropop pumps ala Prada F/W 2007. With the spring collection set to hit stores any day now, this look is already ’so last season’ so the less pricier option was the way to go. Which is just practical because I got those Nine West pumps last October or November and have only worn them twice so far. I’m glad I got them then because they are already out of the size 5 that fit me well. Zara carries patent Sfumata look alikes but the smallest shoe size that they carry is a size 6. The socks also come in brown and purple.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Watches in ShopBop.com

January 24th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Watches

My friend’s younger sister was looking for an inexpensive watch and found a Marc by Marc Jacobs watch in a thick silver cuff (not pictured). It’s a really cute statement piece that doubles as a bracelet. The tiny round face is unobtrusive so you when you turn it around to hide the face, it doesn’t look like a watch. Functional and stylish, as are the other offerings from the line. The resin cuff watch is another option for those who prefer a sleeker look. This heart watch charm bracelet is quite kitschy but cute. All are relatively inexpensive from $175-$350 at Shopbop.com.

Marc Jacobs Daisy Solid Perfume Ring

When Marc Jacobs Daisy launched last year and I took a whiff of the Eau de Toilette Spray, I liked the scent but was not moved enough to get one. But this limited-edition solid perfume ring is just too adorable to pass up! Wear the oversized ring on your finger or as a bag charm while smelling good at the same time. And perfect timing too because florals are big for spring! $30 at Sephora.
