Peggy Li Creations: 20% Off for ShopDiary Readers

January 16th, 2007 | 1 Comment | Posted in Jewelry

I recently discovered beautiful handmade jewelry from San Francisco based Peggy Li Creations. Peggy’s work has been featured in TV shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Medium and magazines like Lucky and O. Her designs range from the classic, dainty, trendy, vintage, exotic and even edgy so there is something for everyone.

I really enjoyed browsing through her well-designed website and I loved a lot of what I saw and read (the item descriptions are just lovely!). The good news is, her pieces are affordable. Even better news is that Peggy is offering ShopDiary readers 20% off with coupon code “SHOPDIARY” from now until January 29. Take note that every piece of jewelry is handmade by Peggy and it may take 1 to 2 weeks for delivery. Just a reminder in case you need something for Valentine’s Day.

Here are a few of my favorites. Click on each link for the story behind each piece.

Mixed metallics are in. And how cute are these two heart charms nestled together like peas in a pod?

This necklace reminds me of a piece from the Van Cleef & Arpels Alhambra collection. It’s not the same, but it’s similar.

I would give my princess cut diamond earrings a break to wear this pair. It’s cute and interesting.

An interesting and exquisite necklace, this is by far the most expensive piece on the site. The inset photo shows the red and green enamelwork found behind the pendant.

What Would You Wear to the Golden Globes?

January 15th, 2007 | 1 Comment | Posted in Jewelry, Shoes, The Red Carpet, Watches

FabSugar posed this fun question recently: Let’s pretend we’re going to tonight’s Golden Globes awards show: what’s a girl to wear? Now I’ve got the Californian laid back style down pat, but who doesn’t like dressing up once in awhile? I readily took to the challenge.

So let’s assume that I have to walk the red carpet , I have no stylist and I have less than 24 hours to come up with my outfit. That leaves me with limited choices, so no bespoke gowns for me. Let’s also assume that I am tall and statuesque because the outfit that I came up with requires such proportions to carry it well on the red carpet.

First off, I started looking for the dress. I chose this floor length tiered gown from Carmen Marc Valvo because this was the best that I’d found so far since I started looking. I would have preferred something lighter but remember my contraints? At any rate, since I’m tall and statuesque (ahem), I think this midnight blue strapless gown would look fantastic on my killer bod. The pleated satin, black lace tiers and blue streaks make a great combination.

Lucky Charm Necklace

October 14th, 2006 | 4 Comments | Posted in Design, Giveaways, Jewelry

I must be lucky. Lately, I won two giftcards at work and this pretty necklace at Shopaholics Di’s monthly contest. Created by indie designer Melissa Pope of Stones on String, this charm necklace is appropriately called “Get Lucky”. It is made of green jade and adventurine, gemstones for luck, mixed with shiny Swarovski crystals and a sterling silver four leaf clover on an 18″ sterling silver chain. How could I not feel incredibly lucky? I guess that means I should buy some lottery tickets today, huh?

Thank you so much, Diana and Melissa!

Frank Gehry for Tiffany

May 26th, 2006 | No Comments | Posted in Jewelry

Innovative architect Frank Gehry has collaborated with preeminent jeweler Tiffany & Co. to create six distinct jewelry collections and tabletop items. The Frank Gehry collection is comprised of six series named after recurring motifs in Gehry’s work: Fish, Torque, Axis, Fold, Equus and Orchid. Here are a few of my favorites:

Frank Gehry Fish Pendants
These Fish pendants are darling! The beguiling shape is mesmerizing. They come in rare and exotic woods such as acacia, ebony and pernambuco, and materials like black gold and cacholong stone.

Frank Gehry for Tiffany Torque Bracelet
This Torque bracelet in brown agate is quite mod.

Frank Gehry Tiffany Axis Bracelet
This Axis bracelet is sleek

The collection debuted two months ago and is available in select Tiffany & Co. stores and will be released to more stores and online this summer.
