Join Fashion Targets Breast Cancer in battling breast cancer by purchasing this limited edition polo shirt designed by Ralph Lauren available exclusively at Net-a-Porter for $75. FTBC is a worldwide charitable initiative of the Council of Fashion Designers of America/CFDA Foundation Inc. Since its launch in 1994, FTBC has raised over $40 million for breast cancer charities in 13 countries. WWD reports that “more products will be unveiled in the coming months from designers including Rachel Roy, Diane von Furstenberg and Oscar de la Renta. The net proceeds from all items purchased, whether in the U.S. or abroad, will stay in the customer’s country. The goal, according to a spokesman, is to raise more than $2 million after one year.”

If the photo above reminds you of this shot from the 90s, it’s because both were shot by Patrick Demarchelier. View the behind the scenes video from the day of the photo shoot here. Sasha smiles but does not speak!

Coco Mademoiselle Commercial

September 16th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Ad Campaigns, Fragrances

I failed to mention earlier that the bloggers’ trip to Paris was part of Chanel’s $10 million global campaign for the Coco Mademoiselle fragrance. Those of us who haven’t been to Coco Chanel’s apartment can now get a glimpse as well as know the symbolism behind certain objects (e.g. Her chandelier has the number 5, the letter G for Gabrielle, and interlocking Cs.) in her inner sanctum at coco-mademoiselle.com. The website also features a 60-second spot starring actress Kiera Knightly with Joss Stone’s rendition of “L-O-V-E” by Nat King Cole playing in the background.

Brilliant! If that doesn’t compel you to go take a whiff of Coco Mademoiselle and buy a bottle, then I don’t know what will. I know I’m sold. Totally.

Lord & Taylor Re-Branding Campaign

August 13th, 2007 | 3 Comments | Posted in Ad Campaigns, Fab Shops

Lord & Taylor has announced plans to launch a $10 million re-branding campaign this fall. Aimed to modernize the store’s image while celebrating its 181-year-old heritage, this new campaign will debut in mid-August and run through the Holiday Season.

Created by David Lipman and shot in California by celebrated photographer Mario Testino, the striking ads project Lord & Taylor’s innate style: unapologetically classic with a multigenerational attitude. They feature a cast of iconic celebrities that include models Carolyn Murphy, Lauren Hutton, Jacquetta Wheeler, Hanne Termote, Megan McNeirney and Erin Heatheron, artist Ed Ruscha, socialites Lauren Davis and Lydia Hearst, plus the children of such American personalities as John MacEnroe and Clint Eastwood.

The images will appear in multi-page spreads in the September issues of Vogue and Vanity Fair, in ads featured in W, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, Town & Country, Cookie, In Style, Interview and GQ as well as in major national newspapers. In addition, twenty-five eye-catching billboards will be placed in Boston, Chicago, Connecticut, Detroit, Philadelphia, New York, railroad stations in upscale suburban areas and the Bryant Park Tents during Fashion Week.

The upscale department store’s shopping bags and boxes have undergone a transformation and will be introduced in the stores September 4th. Bearing the renowned script logo in gray on white, they have a bold orange/yellow interior, a stunning “sunrise” color, suggesting the East coast base of the store as well as a new day for Lord & Taylor as it reinvents itself for the 21st Century.

Kate Winslet for Lancôme Trésor

June 24th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Ad Campaigns, Celebrities

Take a look at the first images of Kate Winslet for Lancôme Trésor.

“More than an outstanding actress, Kate Winslet has the amazing ability to be celebrated as both an exceptional and an everyday woman,” explained Odile Roujol, Lancôme International’s General Manager. “A passionate person, who lives and feels life to the fullest, she is sure to act as the epitome of Trésor, our mythical fragrance.”

The campaign for the fragrance was shot on the Pont des Arts in Paris by fashion photographer Peter Lindbergh. Ads for the Trésor fragrance, featuring Winslet, will be published in print and broadcast on television in September.

Miu Miu S/S 2007 Ad Campaign

The Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2007 ad campaign images are up on the Miu Miu site, where you’ll definitely see more images of you-know-who. There’s more about the campaign and how Lindsay Lohan was chosen, mentioning her “her unique combination of strength and fragility”. Also included are outtakes from the four-day shoot that show some shots that didn’t make the final cut and that yes, the natural redhead wore a red wig and her freckles were most definitely airbrushed. But thank goodness it wasn’t all about her. There is also a fashion clip of real models going up and down red carpeted stairs shot simulataneously by three cameras from diffent angles.

Lindsay does Miu Miu

January 13th, 2007 | 1 Comment | Posted in Ad Campaigns

This is the first image that has surfaced of Miu Miu’s S/S 2007 ad campaign with Lindsay Lohan. It has been all over the internet in the last 24 hours so I wasn’t going to post it at all. But I had to chime in when I saw Susie’s post over at Style Bubble. Susie notes that Lindsay Lohan’s face is disposable and that the model could’ve been anyone and not necessarily Lindsay. Susie’s photoshopped faces made me laugh and drove home her point.

I totally agree. I also think it’s smart on Miu Miu’s part to have made Lindsay unrecognizable. They get the buzz attached to having a publicity magnet like Lindsay on the ad but not the bad press that she usually gets. Since it doesn’t look like her at all, it looks generic enough not to turn off those who detest Lindsay. Those who hated the idea at first are now loving it.

What do you think? Love it? or hate it?

Supermodels: Back with a Vengeance

July 25th, 2006 | No Comments | Posted in Ad Campaigns, Fashion News

Versace seems to be paying attention to our collective dislike for seeing celebrities instead of models in fashion magazines and ad campaigns. For its A/W 2006-2007 ads, supermodels are back with a vengeance.

What a refreshing change! Fahion magazines and fashion houses, take note!
