New Scent: Chloé Eau de Parfum

Chloé will unveil a signature scent next month and it’s positioned to be a classic. Chloé Eau de Parfum is a bouquet of powdered florals with notes of peony, lychee, freesia, rose, magnolia, lily of the valley, amber and cedarwood. It is described as “a fresh and feminine fragrance with an utterly innate sense of chic.” The fragrance will be available exclusively at Saks Fifth Avenue in 1.7 oz ($85) and 2.5 oz ($110) with a shower creme ($45) and body lotion ($50) to complement.

Marc Jacobs Daisy Solid Perfume Ring

When Marc Jacobs Daisy launched last year and I took a whiff of the Eau de Toilette Spray, I liked the scent but was not moved enough to get one. But this limited-edition solid perfume ring is just too adorable to pass up! Wear the oversized ring on your finger or as a bag charm while smelling good at the same time. Andy Warhol Union Square by Bond No. 9

Next up in the series of Andy Warhol fragrances created by Bond No. 9 is Andy Warhol Union Square. The scent will be available in a collection of 10 bottles, each featuring a design based on Warhol’s Flowers series, done by the pop artist in the 1970s. For avid collectors and hardcore Warhol fanatics, the complete collection of ten 100 ml bottles will be available in a box for $1,500. They will also be available in individual flacons of 100 ml at $195 and 50 ml at $135. The scent is a floral fragrance with a musk and spicy twist and is composed of top notes of lily of the valley and green stem; middle notes of blue freesia and white birch wood, and bottom notes of amber and silver-cloud musk accords. Andy Warhol Union Square will be launched in March in the U.S. at Bond No. 9 boutiques, Saks Fifth Avenue and museum gift shops. It will then be rolled out to 20 different markets a month later, including retailers Harrods, Harvey Nichols and Selfridges in the U.K.

As part of the fragrance launch, Robert Lee Morris, another Warhol licensee, created 400 limited edition Warhol-inspired sterling silver Flowers necklaces. The jewelry will feature a Warhol quote engraved on the back: “My favorite smell is the first smell of spring in New York,” as well as the Bond logo. Launching in time for Mother’s Day, the 36-inch necklace will be available with a 100-ml. bottle of the fragrance for $575.

Andy Warhol Silver Factory by Bond No. 9

Bond No. 9, the niche fragrance brand that created my favorite scent Chinatown, has a new fragrance debuting on December 1. Andy Warhol Silver Factory, marks the start of Bond No. 9’s series of Warhol collectibles based on the pop art icon’s favorite haunts. This scent was named after The Silver Factory, Warhol’s original studio whose walls were covered with aluminum foil. The slender perfume bottle was inspired by Warhol’s series of colored Campbell Soup Can silkscreen paintings in 1965.

Silver Factory is of ambiguous male-female gender. The scent was conceived as a smooth, smoky, spicy blend of interlacing incense (a key scent of the ‘60s), wood resin, and syrupy, seductive amber. Slightly dissonant florals - heart of jasmine, iris, and violet, a scent that Warhol was especially fond of - combine to evoke a metallic effect—that of warmed-up, molten silver. And then, for the merest hint of coolness, a handful of cedarwood was added. Now Smell This reviewed the fragrance and notes that “it’s easily the most interesting scent from Bond no. 9 since Chinatown.” My sample is on its way and I can’t wait to take a whiff of it!

Pink Scent: Fracas by Robert Piguet

At the Alexander McQueen show in Paris last week, which was a tribute to Isabella Blow, pink boxes of Fracas were left on the seats and the scent was sprayed into the air. The classic fragrance by Robert Piguet was the eccentric British stylist’s favorite. Fracas also comes in a new luxe body crème. This month, Robert Piguet will donate a percentage of the proceeds from the sale of each jar of Fracas Silkening Body Crème to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Now your softer and sweeter smelling skin will benefit others!

Coco Mademoiselle Commercial

I failed to mention earlier that the bloggers’ trip to Paris was part of Chanel’s $10 million global campaign for the Coco Mademoiselle fragrance. Those of us who haven’t been to Coco Chanel’s apartment can now get a glimpse as well as know the symbolism behind certain objects (e.g. Her chandelier has the number 5, the letter G for Gabrielle, and interlocking Cs.) in her inner sanctum at coco-mademoiselle.com. The website also features a 60-second spot starring actress Kiera Knightly with Joss Stone’s rendition of “L-O-V-E” by Nat King Cole playing in the background.

Brilliant! If that doesn’t compel you to go take a whiff of Coco Mademoiselle and buy a bottle, then I don’t know what will. I know I’m sold. Totally.

New Product: Bond No. 9 Body Creme

If you love Bond No. 9 fragrances, then you might be delighted to know that the New York based fragrance company has just debuted body crèmes called Bodies by Bond to complement your favorite Bond No. 9 fragrance.

Launched just last Friday, the body crèmes are currently available in seven Bond No. 9 scents: Eau de New York, Nuits de Noho, Chinatown, The Scent of Peace, Bryant Park, West Side, and Chelsea Flowers.

New Scent: Infusion d’Iris by Prada

Prada is launching a new scent called Infusion d’Iris in September that is expected to be the best-selling fragrance for the fashion house. Infusion d’Iris is a contemporary eau de parfum based on the root of the Florentine iris pallida flower and “is balanced by top notes of orange blossom and mandarin, as well as base notes of galbanum, lentisc, benzoin, incense, vetiver and cedarwood.” It was created in collaboration between Miuccia Prada and Master Perfumer Daniella Andrier of Givaudan.

Bond No. 9 Goodies

Look what I got in the mail yesterday:

More Bond No. 9 samples! I got my first set of samples, Chelsea Flowers and Scent of Peace, with my order of Chinatown. Then when I spoke to Shawn of Bond No. 9 about Bryant Park, which is scheduled to debut to the public on March 1, he immediately sent a vial to me. In another packet, he added So New York and Nuits de Noho as well even though I didn’t ask for them. How sweet! I guess my enthusiasm about Chinatown came through on the phone. And Shawn doesn’t even know that I keep a blog!

Here they are in their pretty packaging. I haven’t unwrapped them all yet. Just taking in the eye candy for now.
