Shop Pink: Vita Breast Cancer Awareness Bangle

October 1st, 2007 | 2 Comments | Posted in Breast Cancer Awareness, Jewelry

I love Vita bangles and I’ve always wondered why they were never made in pink. Now I know why. Vita has partnered with Revolve Clothing to create this exclusive baby pink bangle to raise breast cancer awareness. The faux snakeskin bracelet features Vita’s signature 24Kt gold-plated chain-link detail and retails for $66 at RevolveClothing.com.
Update: I just received my bracelet in the mail. In case it matters to you, take note that its color is more peach than pink.

Who Benefits: $44 from the retail sales price of each Breast Cancer Awareness bangle sold September 1, 2007 through February 29, 2008 will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for the Cure with a minimum guaranteed donation of $10,000 by Revolve Clothing.

Pink Beauty Buy: Smashbox ‘Blushing Pink’ Fusion Soft Lights Powder & Brush Set

September 30th, 2007 | 3 Comments | Posted in Beauty, Breast Cancer Awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and as I’ve done last year, I’ll be posting my Pink Buys throughout the month. First on my list is this limited edition Smashbox BCA Blushing Pink Fusion Soft Lights & Brush Set. This full size illuminating silk-like Fusion Soft Lights powder comes in a new blushing shade that features the breast cancer ribbon and a makeup artist essential Face & Body Brush #19 with a shiny pink handle. I’ve tried it and I love it! This blush has a delicate sheen that gives a natural glow and is long lasting. It has a smooth texture that blends easily. The sections can be used as eyeshadow too. Valued at $82, it is $59 at Sephora and Nordstrom.

Who Benefits: A portion of proceeds will go to the National Breast Cancer Coalition Fund, a grassroots advocacy group dedicated to finding a cure.

FTBC is a worldwide charitable initiative of the Council of Fashion Designers of America/CFDA Foundation Inc. Since its launch in 1994, FTBC has raised over $40 million for breast cancer charities in 13 countries. WWD reports that “more products will be unveiled in the coming months from designers including Rachel Roy, Diane von Furstenberg and Oscar de la Renta. The net proceeds from all items purchased, whether in the U.S. or abroad, will stay in the customer’s country. The goal, according to a spokesman, is to raise more than $2 million after one year.”

If the photo above reminds you of this shot from the 90s, it’s because both were shot by Patrick Demarchelier. View the behind the scenes video from the day of the photo shoot here. Sasha smiles but does not speak!

Marc by Marc Jacobs Breast Cancer Awareness Charity Charm Bracelet

September 14th, 2007 | 1 Comment | Posted in Accessories, Breast Cancer Awareness

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2007, shopbop.com has partnered with Marc by Marc Jacobs to give you a fashion-forward way to join the fight against breast cancer. This super cute charm bracelet is $88 and proceeds from the sale benefit Y-Me National Breast Cancer Organization.

When I posted Breast Cancer Awareness Month products last year, little did I know that my sister would be diagnosed with breast cancer only a few months later. It was a surprise as no one in our family has ever had breast cancer, or even cancer for that matter (knock on wood). I’m glad that I support the cause. I’ll be posting more pink buys as I find them.
