Gaetano Perrone for Té Casan

October 26th, 2007 | 1 Comment | Posted in Covet, Design, Shoes

Geatano Perrone is a shoe designer to watch out for. Formerly of Alexander McQueen, Perrone’s creations “are a contemporary gift, each a living archive”. His squared-off toe pumps with a hidden platform, inspired by a ballet shoe, are stunningly beautiful and architectural masterpieces. How can you not stand tall in them? And with prices topping at $375 a pair, they are relatively affordable compared to other designer shoes. Actually, these Diana satin shoes were on sale for $189 but when Gossip Girl star Blake Lively wore them on Wednesday morning at a talk show, the price reverted back to its retail price and is now sold out. The squared-off toe shoes also come in flats and other materials like patent leather, pearlised leather and croc embossed. They are limited edition with 100 pairs per size and are available only at Té Casan in New York City.

Mike & Chris Edward Italian Lambskin Hoodie

October 17th, 2007 | 3 Comments | Posted in Covet, Exclusive Deals

Here’s another drool worthy leather jacket from Mike & Chris. The Edward is made of sumptuously soft Italian lambskin with a nicely worn in, well travelled look. It’s got a super slim fit with vertical pleats in front and back and extra-long ruched sleeves. The chocolate brown, pictured after the jump, is totally yummy! Featured in People’s Style Watch as a celeb favorite, the Edward is the label’s best-selling leather jacket for fall and has already sold out at a few online boutiques. It’s worth the splurge at $830. But with a 15% discount at LaurieSolet.com and free shipping why think twice? Use coupon code “shopdiary” now. You deserve it.

Mike & Chris Tie Front Metallic Jacket

September 29th, 2007 | 3 Comments | Posted in Covet, Fashion

Look what I found on page 15 of my Barneys Coop mailer: a Mike & Chris Tie Front Metallic Jacket that I’ve never seen before. Isn’t it gorgeous? The leather looks soft and supple. Metallics are in yet the sheen doesn’t look overly done. The tie front and slim fit give it a feminine touch. This is to die for! The jacket must be exclusive to Barneys as it isn’t even on the Mike & Chris website. It’s $922 so here’s hoping they’ll have it at the next sample sale.

DIY: How to Make a Hooded Tunic Dress

September 16th, 2007 | 5 Comments | Posted in Covet, Fashion

(Myung J. Chun / Los Angeles Times)

The hoodie has never been as interesting to wear as when Mike & Chris entered the fashion scene. Casual became chic. And despite the influx of copycats, the label appears to be ahead of the curve by offering us newer and better designs. L.A. Times gives us an inside look on how half of the genius duo behind the label works when Mike Gonzales turns a $12.99 men’s XXL sweatshirt into a sleek and stylish silhouette in just 40 minutes. He makes it seem so easy, I might try this out myself. But then again, I’ll just leave it to experts. This design has never been produced before. Expect to see it in the next Mike & Chris collection. Watch the video here. Genius, isn’t it?

Marc Jacobs & Louis Vuitton Documentary

August 30th, 2007 | 2 Comments | Posted in Covet, TV/DVD

Yesterday, I suddenly decided that I had to have the Louis Vuitton & Marc Jacobs documentary that is now exclusively available at Colette in Paris. It gives us an inside look at Louis Vuitton and every aspect of the design process and contains more than an hour of special extras. Directed by Loïc Prigent, a French reporter who works for Mademoiselle Agnès and who also created Signé Chanel, the documentary was shown on a French TV station a few months ago and wasn’t originally planned to come out on DVD. With an official release date of September 5, Elle reported that the DVD will be available in the U.S by then. But I couldn’t find any U.S. retailer. I got in touch with Karen Kooper in Paris who told me that the DVD will be released only in France. There is no word yet if it will ever be launched in the U.S. The good news? Karen kindly offered to send me a promo presse piece of the DVD, the same as the release version! I can’t wait to get it in the mail! Thank you, Karen!

Roger Vivier Croc Sunglasses

August 21st, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Accessories, Covet

Croc and the color purple are two of the biggest trends for Fall 2007. Who knew that you could find both trends on sunglasses. I don’t normally gravitate towards the color purple but I think these Roger Vivier crocodile sunglasses are gorgeous though a bit tricky to pull off. They’re also out of my reach and budget at $1050. Still, when you realize that Nancy Gonzalez croc totes go for $3750 and heaven knows how much Hermes croc Birkins are, these sunnies are considerably “affordable” than most croc accessories. Call 212-861-5371 should you have the craving and deep pockets for them.

Devi Kroell Silk Ruffle Toe Flats
How gorgeous are these ruffle round toe flats from Devi Kroell? They look quite delicate as they are made out of silk. How I would love to slip my feet into them! They come in jewel toned hues of saffron, and scarlett, and neutrals grey, and nude.

Medallion Shift Dress

April 20th, 2007 | 4 Comments | Posted in Covet, Target

Patrick Robinson for TargetMy bad! I dismissed the Patrick Robinson for Target line too quickly. After seeing a high resolution picture of this shift dress in a brown medallion print, I’ve decided that I must have it!

It looks Chloe inspired and I would have preferred it with bell sleeves like these dresses.

But who’s to complain? It’s only $34.99 and will be available in Target U.S. stores from May 6 through July 15.

Also modeled by Vogue “top model” Chanel Iman as a tunic with wide pants on The Today Show.

Update 5/7/07: I ordered this dress online yesterday. Free shipping for orders $50 and above and with coupon code TGTSAVQ2 you get 10% off at checkout (expires 6/30/07). This beats going to the store!
