Dress Up Your Sims in H&M

June 13th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in H&M

Calling all Sims and H&M fans, this is for you! “The Sims 2 Fashion Stuff Pack” contains 60 garments so you can dress the Sims in summer men’s and women’s fashions from H&M. Players can also create their own H&M store and furnish it with mannequins, clothing racks, cash registers and a fitting room. And how about this? Design a fashion runway where your Sims can showcase their favorite outfit on the catwalk.

Additionally, participants can submit their own designs via the Fashion Runway Showcase for a period of six weeks. Each week, 12 of the designs will be selected by a jury and from these, the public will vote for their favorite. One of the weekly favorites will then be chosen by the jury for production and sale in H&M’s stores.

Really?! Now that is very cool! But if you win, will they put your name on the label ala Stella McCartney or even Madonna? Now that would be even better!

M by Madonna for H&M

March 26th, 2007 | 2 Comments | Posted in Celebrities, Fab Shops, H&M, Out and About

I stopped by H&M in Pasadena to check out the M by Madonna collection two days after it debuted. I wasn’t keen on anything specific from the line. I just wanted to report back on what I saw and observed. First off, the whole section of M by Madonna was well stocked. The photo above shows the sequined dresses that sold out in some stores. There are still a lot in this store and I didn’t see anybody pick them up while I was there. Almost every item from the collection was available except for the turbans, which completely sold out in this store. Another thing I observed was that people did not linger long in this section. People checked the goods then moved on. Catwalk Queen’s post echoes my observations and sentiments exactly.

What did I like? The clutches in silver or black were a nice surprise. They are cute for a night out on the town. It’s got a slinky hidden strap. It’s tiny though and will only fit a lipstick, a tiny compact and some dollar bills. I tried on the kimono dresses. They are OK but are cut so low in the front, I had to think hard as to when I could realistically wear them. The patent stacked heels are great. But as usual, they didn’t have my size.

Out and About in Beverly Center

February 11th, 2007 | 6 Comments | Posted in Fab Shops, Fashion, H&M, Out and About

I went to the Beverly Center yesterday to check out H&M’s Spring Inspiration collection. What a disappointment! Most of the items were sold out and if they were there, it wasn’t in my size. They had a bunch of jumpers which I didn’t want. There were a few blue jean dresses but none in my size. I was told that the collection had sold out quickly. The store is huge and fully stocked but mostly with basic items like tees and jeans and boring work pieces. I spotted this top/dress but there was only one left and not in my size. So I only tried on two pieces:

The black eyelet dress is part of the Spring Inspiration line. It was my size but boy I was swimming in it. It was the only one left. The one on the right fit OK but I decided that I had enough of black. So I left the store, again, empty handed! Maybe I should go to the H&M store in Pasadena next time.

The photo on the right is my attempt at taking a photo of what I wore yesterday. I don’t think I can take regular snaps of myself in my outfits but I’ll try.
Top: Proenza Schouler for Target V-Neck Trapunto Top in black jersey
Bottom: JBrand 12″ in dark vintage
Shoes: BP. Edie glitter ballet flats
Bag: Balenciaga Matelasse

I also took pictures of some store windows at Beverly Center:

For all you Hello Kitty fans, there is a store in Beverly Center called Momoberry by Sanrio. Momoberry is “Hello Kitty with a twist - breezy, quirky, stylish, a little older and surprisingly sophisticated. Sanrio’s newest boutique features unique accessories, clothing, custom fragrances, cool collections from great designers, plus Hello Kitty and other Sanrio characters on products you won’t find anywhere else!” I didn’t go in to check out the goods though so I can’t report on that.

At Louis Vuitton is this gorgeous new red color called “Pomme d’Amour”. Just in time for Valentine’s, this color is available in Monogram Vernis. I have a red Monogram Vernis Houston from many years ago that is a lighter shade than Pomme d’Amour which is a deeper, richer shade of red. Looks nice!

The ad campaign photos of the M by Madonna collection for H&M have surfaced. The line goes on sale next month and includes a belted trench coat, an elegant black jersey maxi dress (pictured above), a fitted bomber jacket, a kimono dress, skinny black trousers and even sunglasses (pictured below). What do you think of M by Madonna? Will you buy it? If you ask me, I think I’ll pass.

H&M: Spring Inspiration

February 5th, 2007 | 3 Comments | Posted in H&M

How cute is this off-white puff sleeved dress from H&M? I haven’t seen it in person yet but I’m already envisioning wearing this with my large frame sunglasses and wood heeled Chloe style platform shoes or ballet flats. I’m also loving the other looks in this collection called “Spring Inspiration”. The silhouette is loose and airy, the palette runs from neutral colors to pastels, the vibe is casual chic. Look at the models with their hair flying about. It makes me think of an easy breezy day when the tulips are in bloom and the jazz musicians are out playing their saxophones and I’m walking down Michigan Avenue with a spring in my step. That was many years ago back when I used to work in the Windy City and spring was my favorite season. At any rate, I shall be dropping by H&M this weekend to check these out. Ah, spring is definitely in the air!

Retro Revival at H&M for Spring

January 18th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in H&M

This spring H&M does a retro revival as an ode to the 1950, 60s and 70s. Here are a few pieces from the collection that promises to be “all about looking attractive, chic, sweet, sexy and comfortable”. I’ve only been to the H&M in Beverly Center once and I didn’t buy anything. It would be interesting to see these in person.

Tunic $39.90

Trench $79.90(L) and Coat $99.90(R)

Jackets $49.90 (L) $34.90 (R)

H&M Gift of the Day: December 8-13

December 8th, 2006 | 1 Comment | Posted in H&M

H&M’s Gift of the Day for Friday, December 8 is this striped tunic with scarf for $9.90. It looks nice but not nice enough for me to run to the store to check it out. Haha.

Their offering for December 10 got me curious though:

Ladies (and Girls) Jeans for $14.90? I don’t care if it’s bootcut. This price is unheard of! Let’s see if I can drop by on Sunday to check it out. I’m curious to hear from others what they think about this too. I don’t think there’d be a mad rush to get this being that skinny jeans is the jeans du jour but I then again, you never know.

Here are more “Gifts” for the coming week, for the gents and tots in your life:
December 9: Hooded Top $5.90
December 11: Jacket and Muff $14.90
December 12: Gloves and Scarf $9.90
December 13: Men’s Robe $19.90

M by Madonna

December 7th, 2006 | 2 Comments | Posted in Celebrities, H&M

H&M just announced that Madonna has collaborated with Margareta van den Bosch, head of design at the fashion giant, to create a line of clothing and accessories called ‘M by Madonna’ that will be launched in March 2007.

‘Madonna has an impressive feel for fashion and trends. She was extraordinarily style conscious, passionate and was involved in even the smallest details of every design. There is no doubt that Madonna’s influence is reflected by the ‘M by Madonna’ line’, stated Margareta van den Bosch regarding the collaboration.

I’m curious to see what the collection will be. I didn’t get a chance to see the tracksuits that she designed for H&M last summer. I heard that the quality wasn’t good and sales were disappointing. So I guess H&M must have immense faith that the next collaboration will be successful.

What do you think? Will you wear M by Madonna?

Update: I must have overlooked these pics in the H&M website but here I found them via The Fashion Spot:

Now that we have the visuals, I’ll have to say that the trench coat looks promising although we’ll have to see in three months if the finished product will hold up to this prospect. So, has this piqued your interest at all?

H&M Gift of the Day - December 2 - 7

December 2nd, 2006 | 1 Comment | Posted in Deals, H&M

Velour Set
$14.90

These hooded track suits don’t look like velour to me. They look more like cotton. But still, they’re not bad at $14.90 for lounging around at home. There’s the added bonus of getting the kiddos to dress like you too. Haha. If you’ve seen these in person, please let me know what you think of the quality. I don’t think I’ll be able to visit H&M this weekend.

“Gifts” for the rest of the week are posted after the jump.
