You Know You Want It: Lorick New York

October 16th, 2007 | 9 Comments | Posted in Fashion, Gossip Girl

Everyone was all abuzz when Lorick New York debuted its first collection on the hit TV show Gossip Girl. In last week’s episode, Blair modeled her mom Eleanor Waldorf’s designs for a photoshoot. Those classically feminine and ladylike designs are actually from former Ford model Abigail Lorick’s eponymous clothing line. And since the collection is for Spring 2008, they won’t be available until early next year right?

Well, ShopDiary has got the scoop for you! Actually, you won’t have to wait that long. Due to high demand, Lorick has decided to produce some of the line’s best selling and most requested pieces early for the holiday season. The pieces will be sold exclusively on Gargyle.com by the end of November.

The Lorick website will be updated by November 10th with all the stockists carrying the line. And by February 1st, Lorick will be available at all other online and brick-and-mortar stores. Mark your calendars, girls!

Mike & Chris Tie Front Metallic Jacket

September 29th, 2007 | 3 Comments | Posted in Covet, Fashion

Look what I found on page 15 of my Barneys Coop mailer: a Mike & Chris Tie Front Metallic Jacket that I’ve never seen before. Isn’t it gorgeous? The leather looks soft and supple. Metallics are in yet the sheen doesn’t look overly done. The tie front and slim fit give it a feminine touch. This is to die for! The jacket must be exclusive to Barneys as it isn’t even on the Mike & Chris website. It’s $922 so here’s hoping they’ll have it at the next sample sale.

DIY: How to Make a Hooded Tunic Dress

September 16th, 2007 | 6 Comments | Posted in Covet, Fashion

(Myung J. Chun / Los Angeles Times)

The hoodie has never been as interesting to wear as when Mike & Chris entered the fashion scene. Casual became chic. And despite the influx of copycats, the label appears to be ahead of the curve by offering us newer and better designs. L.A. Times gives us an inside look on how half of the genius duo behind the label works when Mike Gonzales turns a $12.99 men’s XXL sweatshirt into a sleek and stylish silhouette in just 40 minutes. He makes it seem so easy, I might try this out myself. But then again, I’ll just leave it to experts. This design has never been produced before. Expect to see it in the next Mike & Chris collection. Watch the video here. Genius, isn’t it?

The Hills star Lauren Conrad has launched her eponymous clothing line and it’s available online now at shoplaurenconrad.com. The line reflects Lauren’s upbringing in Southern California, embracing the laid-back lifestyle with dresses, tops and silhouettes that feature soft fabrics, clean lines and shapes that can easily be transformed from day into night. The fall preview collection features 10 items in the colors navy blue, black, ivory and burgundy. Prices range from $29.99 for a printed scarf to $150 for the Audrina dress, an homage to The Hills co-star, Audrina Patridge. Lo has a dress named after her too. What! No Whitney dress?

Pantone’s Fashion Color Report for Spring 2008

September 9th, 2007 | 1 Comment | Posted in Fashion

Everything that we’ve seen so far on the New York Fashion Week runway reflects the colors forecasted by the Pantone Color Institute®:

Refreshing splashes of invigorating brights punctuate classic, versatile neutrals as designers offer a playful spring palette for endless exploration and creative combinations. Variations on popular colors such as energizing red, cool, waterborne blue and eco-friendly greens also play a key role this season.

The top 10 spring 2008 colors for women are Snorkel Blue, Freesia, Daiquiri Green, Croissant, Rococco Red, Silver Gray, Spring Crocus, Cantaloupe, Pink Mist, Golden Olive. My favorite is snorkel blue. View the complete color report here.

Is anybody still interested in this? Well, Kate Moss for Topshop’s fall collection hits stores and online on September 7th. The Observer Magazine in the U.K. has posted a preview of the collection today. The broadsheet’s online version does not post pictures but reports pieces from the collection including a “black chiffon [dress] with a diamante collar - a piece which, according to industry whispers, Anna Wintour of American Vogue has expressed interest in.” Are you looking forward to this collection?

Update: Scans of of The Observer article were posted on TFS after I published this post. View them here.

Forever 21’s Version of the Bailey

August 25th, 2007 | 3 Comments | Posted in Fashion

It’s been too hot to wear my fleece hoodies yet so I’m glad that Forever 21’s version comes in a lighter fabric that can be worn during the dog days of summer. I saw this a few weeks ago but I didn’t think of getting one at all. Well, I changed my mind and thankfully, they are still available. I probably need a gray one anyway.

By the way, I’m not sure about Free People’s Twilight Empire Jacket. The detachable hood is too snug and there really is no bubble shape as seen this photo. The hood and the bubble shape were the things that differentiated it from Old Navy’s version. But given that they did not meet my expectations, they will most likely be returned. I’m still thinking about it though.

Celeb Styles on Sale at Tobi.com

August 24th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Celebrities, Fashion

Celebrate the dog days of summer in light and breezy dresses like these styles worn by Katherine McPhee and Halle Berry. I know I haven’t worn jeans in awhile. It’s been so hot outside! Halle’s outfit is basically what I’ve been wearing all summer. And while I’m looking forward to fall, the summer heat is still here and I can’t help but add a few more dresses to my summer wardrobe. Thankfully, most summer styles are on sale!

Katherine McPhee is wearing a Plenty by Tracy Reese Halter Dress regularly $215, now 60% off $87

Halle Berry is casual yet stylish in a Velvet Kalinda Dress regularly $108, now 40% off at $65

Mike & Chris Bailey on Pre-Order at Tobi.com

August 19th, 2007 | 3 Comments | Posted in Fashion

Back by popular demand, the previously sold out and very hard to find Mike & Chris Bailey Hoodie is now on pre-order at Tobi.com. Yipee! It comes in standard black, cool grey concrete, and an earthy brown cedar and should ship in late August. That’s next week. But since the look alikes are more affordable, would you still spring for a Bailey?

Personally, I find the new designs from the Fall 2007 more interesting but don’t let that influence your answer. Check out the Rupert, Troy and Andy.

Juicy Couture Does Its Version of Mike & Chris Bailey

August 5th, 2007 | 4 Comments | Posted in Fashion

It’s great that there are more labels doing their own version of the much beloved and sold out Bailey by Mike & Chris. Juicy Couture has joined the bandwagon as well with this Pleated Empire Hooded Fleece Coat.

They’ve got the same details like the empire waist, inverted back pleat, side pockets, three-quarter sleeves or even the bubble hem and made it their own with double breasted buttons and a peter pan collar.

I have to grudgingly admit that this one looks really cute despite my slight distaste for anything “Juicy” (my apologies to those who like the label; it has nothing to do with you, it’s just me!).

It also comes in gray and retails for $298, which is a mere $8 less than the Bailey. You’ll find them anywhere they sell Juicy Couture such as shopbop.com or Neiman Marcus.
