Coco Rocha in Numero 94 June/July 2008

June 6th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Magazines, Models

I love “Agua Caliente”, an editorial from Numero 94’s June/July 2008 issue. Styled by Samuel François, the seven page spread shows Coco Rocha half submerged in a tub full of flowers. The highly saturated photos by Sofia S. & Mauro M., are simply stunning!

Dolce & Gabbana S/S 08 Women’s Ad Campaign

January 12th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Ad Campaigns, Models

Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring/Summer 2008 Women’s Ad Campaign features models Jessica Stam, Gemma Ward, Lily Donaldson with photography by Steven Klein. The campaign follows Dolce & Gabbana’s vision for the season - a perfect fusion of fashion and art - with hand painted dresses shot in an artist’s studio setting. Unlike previous seasons, the statement wasn’t about sex, which is what one would expect from the fashion house, but about refinement. What a visual extravaganza!

Gisele Bundchen for Versace S/S 08

January 6th, 2008 | 4 Comments | Posted in Ad Campaigns, Models

Speaking of Gisele Bundchen, here’s an ad that she shot for Versace’s Spring Summer 2008 ads with photographer Mario Testino. The ad campaign is still slightly raunchy minus the tackiness of Versace’s previous seasons. It’s simple and sexy yet classy. What an oxymoron for Versace which is usually known for tacky! We’re not big Gisele/Versace fans but we give this ad a thumbs up. And look at those mile long legs. Love those shoes too!

Burberry Spring 2008 Ad Campaign

January 4th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Ad Campaigns, Models

Burberry throws in a punch of color for its Spring 2008 ads. There’s still the usual neutral shades of grays, blacks, whites and creams but with a jolt of teal and a sprinkling of purple mixed in. The ad projects an energetic if a bit disjointed vibe and is supposed to represent a “new young Brit regime.” Shot by Mario Testino, it features models Agyness Deyn, Lily Donaldson, Coco Sumner (Sting’s daughter), actor Eddie Redmayne and members of the British rock group Blondelle.

Mulberry Agyness

December 2nd, 2007 | 2 Comments | Posted in Handbags, Models

Agyness Deyn has arrived! The London it girl of the moment has gone from modelling for Mulberry’s Spring 2007 ad campaign to having a Mulberry bag named after her for early Spring 2008. The Mulberry Agyness doesn’t exactly exude the model’s effortlessly cool style, but it does look as stylish as its namesake. It comes in soft leather and snakeskin in a few delectable colors as seen below. Priced from €695-€895 ($1395-$1795), they are available online at Mulberry.com and Net-a-Porter.com and in selected stores that carry the brand.

Hilary Rhoda for Zara Woman F/W 2007/08

November 12th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Fab Shops, Models

Zara’s Fall/Winter collections for 2007-2008 are finally up on their website and Hilary Rhoda models for Zara Woman. She is quite stunning as usual, if a bit distracting. The photos are incredibly styled in a polished industrial setting. Definitely eye candy. There are a few pieces that stand out, such as the shiny black trench coat that looks a lot like Burberry Prorsum and the double breasted pant suit. Still, I’m not rushing out to buy them because sometimes I wonder, will the clothes in the store do justice to the slick photos?

Supermodels at Louis Vuitton’s Spring 2008 Show

October 8th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Fashion Week, Models

Only the glamazon supermodels of the 1990s can bring realism to the sexy nurses that opened for the Louis Vuitton runway show in Paris. Can you spot Stephanie Seymour, Eva Herzigova, Nadja Auermann, and Naomi Campbell?

Join Fashion Targets Breast Cancer in battling breast cancer by purchasing this limited edition polo shirt designed by Ralph Lauren available exclusively at Net-a-Porter for $75. FTBC is a worldwide charitable initiative of the Council of Fashion Designers of America/CFDA Foundation Inc. Since its launch in 1994, FTBC has raised over $40 million for breast cancer charities in 13 countries. WWD reports that “more products will be unveiled in the coming months from designers including Rachel Roy, Diane von Furstenberg and Oscar de la Renta. The net proceeds from all items purchased, whether in the U.S. or abroad, will stay in the customer’s country. The goal, according to a spokesman, is to raise more than $2 million after one year.”

If the photo above reminds you of this shot from the 90s, it’s because both were shot by Patrick Demarchelier. View the behind the scenes video from the day of the photo shoot here. Sasha smiles but does not speak!

Barneys New York Fall 2007 Catalog

September 16th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Fab Shops, Models

Barneys New York always creates interesting ads and catalogs. You might laugh but I save my Barneys mailers just for the pictures!

You’ve seen the latest ads in US Vogue’s hefty September 2007 issue. Find them and more in the retailer’s Fall 2007 mailer featuring the fabulously thinspirational Du Juan on the cover and Coco Rocha, Heather Marks, and Anja Rubik on the inside pages. (Help! I know I’m missing some names.) Unlike Neiman’s online catalogs though, the photos aren’t clickable with descriptions, prices and, if applicable, links to each item pictured. Regardless, I can’t wait to get my catalog in the mail! Mailer is available only in stores.

More Dish About A Model Life

August 26th, 2007 | 2 Comments | Posted in Models, TV/DVD

Angelika, is that you? Looks like the constantly sullen Miss Know-It-All from TLC’s A Model Life has landed herself a cosmetics spot with L.A. based Smashbox Cosmetics. Her morose mug graces the box of Smashbox’s Beauty Book. Meanwhile, Bea has managed to perfect her catalogue look with Macys and Kohl’s.

Anyway, if you’ve been following the show, as I have, you might be curious to know what will happen at next week’s finale. Spoiler alert! Don’t click unless you want to know.
