Barneys New York Sale: Online Only

Barneys New York is having an online sale despite concurrently holding its legendary warehouse sales in Los Angeles and New York (starting tomorrow). The choices and sizes aren’t that much but the selection appears to be better, based on dismal reports from those who’ve been to the sale in L.A. You’ll find these Chloe peep toe booties (which I’m mulling over whether I should get or not because I loved these when they first came out but they are too seasonal to get now), orange Christian Louboutin Passumule Zeppas (in size 10 only) and a Miu Miu platinum mini hobo bag (handbags at the warehouse sales are usually crap) at up to 75% off among others. It doesn’t beat the thrill of the hunt compared to going to the warehouse sale in person but it saves you some disappointment should your expectations fall short. Plus if you aren’t in L.A. or New York, you can still shop the sale. You also get get complimentary shipping on your orders through August 26th. Sweet!

What’s going on here? Prada’s Fall 2008 runway handbags are available on Hautelook.com for up to 28% off retail. These bags have just hit stores like Neiman Marcus for the fall season. They’re not even past season or current season. They’re upcoming season and they’re already on sale. It must be the sign of the times when thousand dollar luxury designer handbags are on sale even before the season has started. Will this mean steeper discounts by the end of the season? According to L.A. Times, “it’s cool to be cheap, even among the wealthy.” The only bag that isn’t discounted is the black lace bowler bag that I love, love, love. But wait, is it really $3500? Or, as Fabsugar reported yesterday, $1995? Go check it out. Sale ends July 27 at 11:59PM PST.
