Old Navy Summer Sandals

June 6th, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in Shoes

Have you seen the summer sandals at Old Navy? I love the brown embellished gladiator style sandals that I bought last month so I’m looking forward to checking these new styles out. They are budget friendly at only $19.99 a pair as were my gladiator sandals, which look good and are comfortable. How can you beat that? I’m just so glad I got my gladiator sandals when I did because they’re now sold out online and I haven’t seen them in stores at all.

Check out Old Navy’s summer sandals now and let me know what you think!

Saks Sale: Up to 40% off

May 26th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Sales, Shoes

Saks Fifth Avenue started a pre-sale last Wednesday but now you can shop the sale online today and tomorrow and get up to 40% off. There are lots of Christian Louboutin at 30% off. They’re not a bargain yet but if you’ve been drooling over these Rodita zip sandals (on the left) or the Passmule patent wedges (on the right) as I have, then you’d better start clicking now. These are the most popular styles and you probably won’t find them in your size at the end of the sale. Or head on over to your local Saks store for the pre-sale as there are more brands that are not available online (hello, Chanel!). SaksFirst members earn triple points on their purchases as well (online today and tomorrow, online and in stores May 28-31).Update: I dropped by Saks Beverly Hills today and the shoe and handbag selections have definitely been picked over. Your best bet is to buy online… if your size is still available!

Old Navy Gladiator Style Sandals

May 10th, 2008 | 2 Comments | Posted in Shoes

Women: Women's Embellished Leather Sandals - Dark Brown
I have to admit that I haven’t worn my gladiator sandals from Bakers lately. They are very comfortable but they look ordinary and the flat footbed make my feet look wide. So I’m on the lookout again for affordable glads that look a more, uh, fashion forward.

These embellished leather sandals from Old Navy seem to fit my criteria. They are affordable at only $19.99 a pair, the one strap buckles are manageable, the thin straps look feminine and the metallic accents are a modern take on the gladiator style. They remind me of Sam Edelman Ginger gladiator flats minus the high ankle straps. I wonder if they’re comfortable.

The bad news news for me is that their smallest size is a six and my feet are size 5 1/2. But with Old Navy’s $5 Shipping (cheaper than 2 gallons of gas and running around town looking for a pair!), I’ll be ordering a pair to see how they work out. I want these toe-loop sandals too!

Zipped Back Gladiator Shoes

April 27th, 2008 | 7 Comments | Posted in Shoes

When it comes to shoes, I like them to be easy to slip in and out of. I usually can’t be bothered with straps if I can help it. So when I started searching for gladiator flats, the ones with zippered backs appealed to me the most. And since I didn’t want to commit too much to the style, I didn’t want to spend much on them either. I found the perfect pair, stylewise and pricewise, in these Dorian gladiators from Baker shoes. They are $49.95. I couldn’t decide between brown or white, so I got both!

Christian Louboutin to Sign Shoes at Barneys

April 25th, 2008 | 2 Comments | Posted in Shoes

Christian Louboutin will be making personal appearances at Barneys New York on May 1 at the Madison Avenue flagship store and on May 7 in Beverly Hills.

There you’ll get a chance for a quick tête à tête with the renowned shoe designer and have your red-sole shoes signed.

Louboutin’s colorful and rhyming autographs are well worth waiting in line for. My friend got hers last fall. Take a look at what he signed. It’s a work of art in itself. And he doesn’t only sign the shoes. He’ll sign your invitation and shoe bag too if you ask. He’ll also graciously pose with you for photos.

For those wondering, and I guess it goes without saying, only new shoes can be signed.

I’ll have to find a way to make it to Beverly Hills in atrocious traffic on a weekday and to not put my purchase on credit (as I prefer not to, but I’ve been shopping a lot lately). Hmmm. This reminds me, I still have unworn Louboutin wedge boots from the last Barneys Warehouse Sale. But then wedge shoes won’t work…

Gurkee’s Rope Sandals

April 4th, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in Shoes

Here’s a unique take on casual footwear: the Gurkee’s sandal. Gurkee’s are made of polypropylene rope that is so light, it feels like going barefoot. As they mold to the shape of your feet, the longer you wear them, the sandals become more comfortable and softer. I just started wearing my pair of yellow Tobago sandals recently and have received many compliments while out and about. My pedicured toenails (in Chanel Blue Satin) look particularly great in them!

Gurkee’s rope soles are incredibly sturdy as they’ve endured many hours of my heavy and constant use with nary a loose fiber in sight. They are salt water and chlorine resistant so I’m looking forward to wearing them a lot this summer. I’ve also got my eye on the limited edition Trinidad. I hope it comes in more colors! All styles are $34.99 and come in assorted colors for women, men and kids. Gurkee’s are sold online at www.gurkees-sandals.com.

Primary Colored Shoes

March 24th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Shoes

I still haven’t worn primary colors together in an outfit and I seem to be determined to do so this spring. That’s probably why I’m inexplicably drawn to these red, yellow and blue pairs of shoes. Who knew there would be several smartly designed primary colored shoes not designed for school aged children. Getting a pair like these would probably solve my dilemma in mixing and matching primary colors in an outfit. OK, it’s not rocket science to do so but I didn’t want to end up looking juvenile so I’ve been over analyzing my primary colored wardrobe choices so far. My heart goes out to the Louboutins on the right but they aren’t very practical and will probably be worn only a few times. I’m not quite sure about the pairs from Marc by Marc Jacobs although they’ll probably get more mileage than the Louboutins. So I guess I’ll go with just mixing ‘n matching. Hmmm. Over analyzing much?
