Gossip Girl Fashion: Blair Waldorf’s Ankle Patent Boots

February 17th, 2008 | 3 Comments | Posted in Gossip Girl, Shoes

Spotted: Blair Waldorf’s patent boots from Gossip Girl’s last episode, The Thin Line Between Nate and Chuck. Blair’s quirky tri-color ankle patent boots are by Sam Edelman and the style is called Rita. The ankle boots are already sold out in navy blue but the color is still available in knee-high boots. If you prefer ankle boots, the bordeau is just as gorgeous. Or if you’re a bit daring, how about yellow?

OK. That was just an excuse to post about Gossip Girl. The real dish is that the show is set to resume airing on April 12th. Woohoo!

Gossip Girl Fashion: Serena’s Black Metal Studded Dress in School Lies

January 13th, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in Gossip Girl

Gossip Girl has unexpectedly aired its last episode last week and ironically, the clothes seen in recent episodes are still around. We previously lamented that most of the fashion seen on the show are not available in stores anymore. Well here’s one that you can still buy. A few readers have asked us to identify this black metal studded dress that Serena van der Woodsen wore in “School Lies”, at her mother’s bethrotal to Chuck Bass’ dad.

Well the dress is surprisingly by Diane von Furstenberg, who is known for her printed, flowy and feminine dresses. The Everly embellished dress is a black sleeveless jersey dress with metal stud detailing and a zip fastening in front. It’s an amazing evening wear choice and great for a cocktail party. Available at Net-a-Porter for $1500 (ouch!).

Gossip Girl Fashion: Blair Waldorf’s Preppy Look in School Lies

January 4th, 2008 | 4 Comments | Posted in Gossip Girl

School Lies, the latest episode of Gossip Girl, showed lots of fashion eye candy. Unfortunately most items seen in this episode are not available in stores anymore. Don’t you just hate that? The tuxedo bib dress worn by Blair Waldorf in a scene with Nate, is actually a navy and white velvet tuxedo dress by Catherine Holstein. It is on sale at Barneys New York by around 50% off or $200 but not available anywhere online. Anyhow, here’s Blair Waldorf entertaining her gang of school friends after being caught in a school break staying cool as a cucumber in her modern preppy outfit.

Gossip Girl Gap Tidings Ads

December 1st, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Ad Campaigns, Gossip Girl

How cute are they? Blake Lively, Chace Crawford, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley and Ed Westwick of Gossip Girl recently posed together wearing colorful Gap scarves for a fun photo shoot in the Gap Tidings Mobile Studio. This isn’t for an official Gap ad but you can bet that this subtle tie in was a smart move by Gap. The mobile studio/truck will be at designated New York City locations until mid-December. So you too can take pictures with friends and family and create your very own GapTiding video greeting. What a fun idea!

Splurge vs. Steal: Erickson Beamon Necklaces

November 15th, 2007 | 2 Comments | Posted in Gossip Girl, Splurge vs. Steal

In last night’s episode of Gossip Girl, Blair Waldorf got one of the things she wished for her seventeenth birthday: the Erickson Beamon diamond necklace that she put on hold earlier. As they say, diamonds are a girl’s best friend and Blair was not one to resist the lure of sparkly jewels. I’m not going to say more than that in case you didn’t watch the show yet. But how many 17 year olds get diamond necklaces for their birthday? I know, I didn’t. Ah, such is the life of Manhattan’s young and wealthy Upper East Siders! Don’t get envious though because you can have an Erickson Beamon necklace without breaking the bank. More »

You Know You Want It: Lorick New York

October 16th, 2007 | 9 Comments | Posted in Fashion, Gossip Girl

Everyone was all abuzz when Lorick New York debuted its first collection on the hit TV show Gossip Girl. In last week’s episode, Blair modeled her mom Eleanor Waldorf’s designs for a photoshoot. Those classically feminine and ladylike designs are actually from former Ford model Abigail Lorick’s eponymous clothing line. And since the collection is for Spring 2008, they won’t be available until early next year right?

Well, ShopDiary has got the scoop for you! Actually, you won’t have to wait that long. Due to high demand, Lorick has decided to produce some of the line’s best selling and most requested pieces early for the holiday season. The pieces will be sold exclusively on Gargyle.com by the end of November.

The Lorick website will be updated by November 10th with all the stockists carrying the line. And by February 1st, Lorick will be available at all other online and brick-and-mortar stores. Mark your calendars, girls!

From Runway to TV: Gossip Girl Fashion

October 15th, 2007 | 8 Comments | Posted in Gossip Girl

Can I tell you about my latest guilty pleasure? It’s a TV show called Gossip Girl. Oh, you watch it too? Fantastic! It’s often compared to The O.C., which I’ve never watched, but I think it’s more like Cruel Intentions, which I loved. Plus the fashions are right up my alley, more than Sex And The City. So it’s been fun trying to identify what the girls are wearing on the show, especially those seen in fashion shows. Let’s take a look now, shall we?

Here’s a sneak peek at Blair’s dress shown in Episode 5 airing this week.

From the 3.1 Phillip Lim runway show for Fall 2007, this Lantern Sleeve Gamine Dress with Swarovski crystals is available at Barneys Coop for $650.00.

Serena wore a cream embroidered chiffon and caramel silk charmeuse cocktail dress by Vena Cava, shown at New York Fashion Week for Spring 2007, at the Ivy League Mixer in the 3rd episode…

… and a modified silk charmeuse dress with Havasu print, also by Vena Cava for Spring 2007, for episode 4 when she tags along with Blair on a photo shoot.

Serena also wore a Vena Cava top with Havasu print in episode 2 when she visits Blair before brunch.

Blair wore a silk georgette pinwheel floral sleeveless shift dress in episode 4 when she goes shopping with Serena.

The dress is from the Fall 2007 collection of contemporary label Milly. While Milly has been showing at New York Fashion Week for several seasons, this season’s collection was not shown on the runway.

Unfortunately, most of these dresses are not available anymore. Now that the show has been picked up for a full season and has developed quite a following, perhaps more designers will be sending in their merchandise and will be more current when episodes air.
