Much Ado About Nothing

Does anybody still watch Project Runway?

Looks like there’s been a lot of drama this season. Last night wasn’t an exception. Here’s my take on the latest cheating issue, this time involving Jeffrey Sebelia:

Don’t You Just Love Tim Gunn?

October 9th, 2006 | 1 Comment | Posted in Project Runway

He just tells it like it is.

For those of you who missed it, this morning, Blogging Project Runway posted a very bitter sounding letter from ousted Project Runway Season 3 contestant, Keith Michael.

This is Tim Gunn’s response: Dear Laura, I’m running around madly today, but I just had to write to say that I read Keith’s letter. I want to go on record as saying that his words are nothing but preposterous garbage … Much love to you and BPR, Tim XXOO

Love it!

The ellipses make me wonder though: what else did Tim have to say?

Project Runway Reunion Clips

October 3rd, 2006 | 2 Comments | Posted in Project Runway

Two more weeks til the Project Runway Season Three finale, peeps! Here are some video clips to tide you over til tomorrow’s reunion show (we can’t get enough of it, can we?):

Two videos from Yahoo where Vincent is confronted about his comments that his co-competitors are amateurs (aren’t they all?) and Keith thinks his ouster was not fair (”You know, I’m obviously upset. You can see in my eyes and in my face I’m upset. So do I think the outcome was fair? No. I don’t.”). Let’s call these videos “Interviews with Delusional Reality Show Contestants”, shall we?
Heidi jokes around with Vincent - “Did it turn you on? I know you’re turned on by all that.”
• I saved the best for last: Vincent is definitely crazy! Here he goes ballistic about his ruined $125 shirt. Everyone was laughing about it but he had his arms crossed and looked a bit upset.

Oy! Too much Vincent. I think I won’t wait up for this show tomorrow evening. I need my beauty sleep! When you’ve watched the clips, come back here to discuss.

Project Runway: The Anti-Climactic Episode

September 28th, 2006 | 1 Comment | Posted in Project Runway

I just watched Project Runway tonight and I found it to be so anti-climactic.

The Manolo feels the same and sums it up really well:

Without the competition, the Project Runway is not worth the watching. And when the losers arbitrarily can be brought back, and the final three arbitrarily made the final four, the show is revealed as silly and artifical. Yes, the Project Runway it was always silly and artificial, but as long as the competition seemed plausibly fair we could ignore this, so accustomed are we to the nature of games. In the world of games, the one thing you do not do is change the rules halfway through, for to do so is to render the game not worth the playing, or the watching.

I think the fact that Uli won this challenge changed everything. If someone else won, then it would have been easy to auf Uli. Let’s face it, the judges love Michael. And despite his 1-800 dress from this episode, there was no way that they were going to let him go home. And knowing what we know now, Uli may even win. She has the most cohesive spring-like collection from what was presented at Olympus Fashion Week. Laura’s was cohesive and impeccable as usual, but was too dark for a spring collection. Jeffrey’s was fresh and new but not cohesive enough. And Michael’s collection? Not my favorite.

But you know what, the four of them really are strong contenders. I still have a hard time deciding which one among them won. Ah! I can’t wait til the finale on October 18. I’m on pins and needles!

And Then There Were Four

September 15th, 2006 | 4 Comments | Posted in Fashion Week, Project Runway

Project Runway fans, the photos from the Final Four’s collections are up! Click on each designer’s name to view more photos.

Uli Herzner: “I had a dream that I would show one day at fashion week and it came true.”

Laura Bennett: “I wanted to make it BIG in fashion (referring to pregnant belly), and I did!” (Big laughs)

Michael Knight: “I’m so excited, I’m getting the butterflies. My collection is called ‘Street Safari’.”

Jeffrey Sebelia: “The inspiration for this collection is a book called ‘Japanese Demons and Ghosts”.”

I think they all did well. Who do you think the decoy is? I think it’s Uli and I like her collection. I’m a big fan of Michael but sadly, it was his collection that I liked the least. I think I love some pieces in Jeffrey’s collection! And Laura’s clothes are impeccable, as usual.

Project Runway Spoiler

This is probably a major spoiler. Don’t click here if you don’t want to know. It actually made me smile!

TGIW

Let’s dish about Project Runway, shall we?

Episode 8 airs tonight and I don’t know if it will be worth staying up for. I usually save the show but I like to watch it when it airs, being the excited Project Runway fan that I am. But let’s face it, 10 PM is too late to be up for someone like me who has to be at work by 7 AM (that’s another story). And lately, the show has just become disappointing. Why are Vincent and Angela still on THIS show? Why?!

At any rate, I had predicted that the everyday woman for Episode 7 would be the contestants’ mothers or sisters and I was right! Emboldened by this foresight, let me go out on a limb here and predict the final three. I know, that’s quite rash of me being that three out of my top five faves are already gone.

But my gut feel tells me that the top three will be: Michael, Uli and a wild card who may very well be Vincent because of this. (Say it ain’t so!) If it wasn’t for this apparent spoiler, my vote for the third designer would go to Laura or Kayne. However, Laura has been consistently but boringly good and we all know how that went for Robert, another boringly good designer. The judges have already ripped on her last design. Kayne has made bad choices in the past and has had time management problems. Jeffrey and Angela have already been in the bottom, which doesn’t mean anything, but their aesthetic isn’t widely appealing. However, Jeffrey could be a wild card being that he has his own point of view. I get his aesthetic and loved his dress from the Reap What You Sew (recycled) episode. His antics are getting tiring though and I hope he is banished from the show soon. Season Two’s Santino was more entertaining!

So there you go. What do you think?

Finally, Michael Wins!

And he’s getting more airtime.

I’m glad to see Michael Knight finally getting the attention and recognition that he deserves. I’m rooting for you, Michael!

Gone So Soon! Sniff.

Ah, I was hoping to see more of you in the show but you were auf’d way before your time. Goodbye, Malan Breton from Taiwan. You will be missed.
