Brooklyn Bridge Runway Show Kicks Off Fashion Indie Week Brooklyn

August 27th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Fashion News

As if the fifty feet of catwalk models normally tread across wasn’t enough, Fashion Indie has decided to take the term “runway” to a whole new level with a recording setting fashion show across the Brooklyn Bridge; being held Tuesday, September 2nd at 6pm.

This once in a lifetime event will be the official kick off to Fashion Indie Week Brooklyn.

On September 2, 2008, Fashion Indie will be hosting the “No Sleep Till Brooklyn” fashion show, a sneak peek into the collections that the Fashion Indie Week Brooklyn designers plan to show during fashion week. Expect select items from Brooklyn Royalty, Love Brigade, Zulema Griffin, Mandate of Heaven, New York Couture and San & Soni to hit the bridge next Tuesday. With six thousand feet of runway, there will ample time to get full coverage of the event from anywhere on the bridge.

“Fashion Indie is known for being outlandish and over the top, and this is no exception,” said Fashion Indie’s leader Daniel Saynt, “We want our fashion week to be extravagant, unorthodox, and influential.”

Love It or Hate It: Botkier Xenia Boots

August 26th, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in Shoes

Every year, there always seems to be some newfangled boot design that makes me pause and wonder, “What the heck is this?”. Last year, these boots got me confused.

This year, Botkier’s Xenia knee high boots got my attention. I have to admit that the first time I saw these boots were from the front (see image here) and they looked pretty sleek in the photo. The long cuff covering the vamp and heel visually elongates the wearer’s legs and the supple leather screams good quality. But boy, those back pleats at the cuff threw me off when I saw them tonight. I mean, why? It’s growing on me though.

An Impulse Buy

August 26th, 2008 | 14 Comments | Posted in Handbags

Goyard had a private sale in San Francisco a few weeks ago and through the powers of the internet, I was able to snag this yellow Beluga* at 50% off retail. My Flickr friend, Michelle, was not too happy about it (she got a Beluga at full price) but before the sale, she thoughtfully asked me if I wanted her to scope out any deals at the sale. Her SA, Rogelio, told her there wouldn’t be any bags on sale. But it turns out several styles were and one of them was the Beluga. I wasn’t planning on buying another Goyard but the deal was too good to resist. Michelle got the bag for me and even threw in two Purse Valet bag hooks plus other goodies when she shipped the bag to me. My Flickr friends are wonderful, I tell you. And I’ve never met them in person yet.

For some reason, I’m having buyer’s remorse now. I realize that I wouldn’t be using this bag as much as I do my white Fidji, which I use everyday. I’ve also sworn off logo bags. Well, that’s what I like to tell myself but obviously, I still can’t control myself.

So tell me, should I keep? Or should I sell? Should I save up for another Chanel?
