U.S. Olympic Team Opening and Closing Ceremony Uniforms by Polo Ralph Lauren

The 2008 Beijing Olympics just kicked off with a spectacular Opening Ceremony in China. Call me shallow but it’s the parade outfits that I love seeing during the Olympics Opening Ceremonies. It’s interesting to see what each country’s team is wearing and which country has the best uniform. (So yes, I am shallow in that way as I am not the sporty kind anyway.)

Anyhow, the U.S. Olympic Team is outfitted by Polo Ralph Lauren from Opening and Closing Ceremony outfits to Olympic village wear pieces. The Opening Ceremony Parade Outfits reflect the heritage and sensibility of the 1920s and 1930s with a tailored and modern silhouette. Men and women althletes wore double vent navy blazers with safari pleats on the back, white slacks, white driving hats and canvas walking shoes. The Closing Ceremony Parade Outfits reflect a sportier aesthetic that includes a classic white polo shirt, white shorts, a red/white/blue belt and a sleeveless sweater.

Apparel from the entire Polo Ralph Lauren U.S. Olympic Team Parade Outfit collection are available for purchase in the U.S. – with the official men’s Parade Outfit tie in numbered, limited editions – as well as a collecton of designs represented in the athelete village wear pieces. They are available online at RalphLauren.com and the U.S. Olympic Committee website.

Update: Check out opening ceremony parade outfits from other countries here.
