Chanel RTW Spring/Summer 2009

October 4th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Fashion, Fashion Week

Karl Lagerfeld promised a “truly magnificent” centerpiece for Chanel’s Spring 2009 prêt-à-porter collection and he certainly did not disappoint. A 35-foot replica of Chanel’s famous 31 Rue Cambon store façade set the stage at the Grand Palais in Paris, with a miniature street for the runway. “Our House” by Madness set the upbeat mood of the show. Love! Wish I was there. The finale dresses were gorgeous. I love the shopping bags, white quilted bag with side handles, jewelry and belts. Hate the legwear and perspex “poodle shoes” (pictured below). View the complete collection on Style.com and a video of the show below.

I love “Agua Caliente”, an editorial from Numero 94’s June/July 2008 issue. Styled by Samuel François, the seven page spread shows Coco Rocha half submerged in a tub full of flowers. The highly saturated photos by Sofia S. & Mauro M., are simply stunning!

Chanel Boutique on Robertson + Exclusives

June 1st, 2008 | 3 Comments | Posted in Fab Shops

The new Chanel boutique on Robertson Boulevard opened on Friday, May 30. I received my invitation to visit the new store but I haven’t had a chance to do so yet. The 5,395-square-foot, two-story boutique, designed by Peter Marino, will be as sleek and shiny as the Rodeo flagship store located less than 2 miles away, but is smaller and aims to attract a younger crowd. The boutique will stock a trendier, tightly edited selection of ready-to-wear, fine jewelry, accessories and cosmetics. There will also be exclusive merchandise found only at the Chanel Robertson boutique, such as a limited edition nailpolish, a metallic lambskin quilted classic handbag and cap toe shoes.

Storefronts: Robertson Boulevard

May 27th, 2008 | 2 Comments | Posted in Storefronts

Robertson Boulevard is fast losing its reputation as a quaint indie boutique shopping district with the imminent arrival of big guns like Chanel, Ralph Lauren and D&G. The trendy tree-lined street in West Hollywood is best known as a paparazzi magnet where young starlets are usually caught shopping and eating.

Will this homogenization bode well for this fashion row du jour? Kitson owner Fraser Ross told WWD, “The rents on Robertson are getting a little ridiculous and the street is getting a little more corporate, so it was time to aggressively expand elsewhere.” Kitson, one of the hippest shops on the street, is not moving but it’s definitely not putting all its eggs in one basket, so to speak.

Thank goodness those rumors of a Coach Legacy boutique did not come to fruition!

After the jump, storefront snaps of most of the shops on Robertson Boulevard.
